Are we just gonna ignore the job Romeo Crennel is doing?

This D just keeps rolling along. Impressive given the injuries. No Watt, Bouye, Wilfork, or Kevin Johnson.

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-grades-and-analysis-for-every-nfl-week-10-game/

    Top defensive grades

    LB Benardrick McKinney, 87.3

    CB Charles James, 80.4

    CB Kareem Jackson, 80.1

    S Quentin Demps, 80.0

    LB Brian Cushing, 79.9

Big plays fuels Texans’ defense in winning effort

Houston’s defense took advantage of Bortles’ errors, including a pick-six from Kareem Jackson. Brian Cushing had a good day in run defense, as he had four tackles and an assist in 20 snaps against the run. Texans LB Benardrick McKinney had a good day defending the pass, as he was targeted six times, yielding five receptions but for only 18 yards. McKinney also added three tackles in 20 snaps against the run. The Texans’ defense was solid all day, and if not for a pass interference call late in the game, would have turned this into a big-time performance.

    On every play.

Mercilus had the breakout year he had last year, because defenses were paying so much attention to Watt. There is a reason he has fallen off a bit this year, and it is because Watt isn't on the field. With that said, Crennel's scheme can help makeup for injuries.

One thing I wish more Texans fans appreciated, is how much more disciplined the team is this year. The Texans defense is doing a tremendously better job of tackling, and limiting YAC, while the entire team is being extremely disciplined - as the Texans are one of the least penalized teams in the league.

I think our defense is fine, but then again, it was great with Phillips, and he got fired.

RAC has done well. No Watt is something we haven't experienced since pre-Wade.

If one of BoB/Rick/McNair/Brock did their job as well, we'd be contenders.

We had plenty of other injuries with Wade, especially with Foster, Cushing, and quarterbacks. Nobody can deny Wade was a great defensive coach too. He proved that when he made Denver the #1 defense after we fired him and they hired him. I'm just glad Romeo is doing a good job too.

Definitely wasn't knocking Wade. From what I've gathered, he's the main reason we have Watt.

If Brock/McNair/Rick/BoB did their job as good as Bum Jr, we'd be contenders.

We have Watt because of Wade - that is a fact.
    • Wade even tried to play down his role:

With all of that said, you couldn't be more wrong about BoB.

If he keeps it up, some team might poach him

    For a head coach?

    That ship has effectively sailed.

He's now in the Capers, Linehan, Schwartz, Wade Philips zone.

Mercilus and McKinney made Second Team All-Pro like Clowney. Gotta give them their props as well.
