Are we just going to ignore the pretty good season Trevor Ariza is having?

He's averaging 16 ppg and 6 boards. Shooting 47% from the field and 42% from downtown. Getting 2 steals a game too.

Looks like Morey was onto something.

I thought this dude was out of the NBA. I think he is morey's worst mistake and still haunts him.

    Twill imo was worse.

Took a gamble on forcing Ariza to be a leading option and it failed, but he flipped it for Courtney Lee, corrected his wrong at least.

True, but Morey admitted that he only signed Ariza to that terrible contract because we had nobody and we needed some sort of big name. That is very not Morey like so thats why I call it his one big mistake.

    I don't think Morey admitted/said this.

Nah definately agree, one of the few blemishes in an otherwise pretty darn good tenure as GM.

Yea he said something along the lines of that to where it was pretty much implied. It was before we knew how Ariza would pan out, taking the optimistic view on things about how great it was that Trevor signed because they were having difficulty signing FAs.

Lol Ariza is the epitome of what Kevin Martin and last year's Harden do not stand for.

if you read what I actually posted i said that Twill was his worst mistake.

Why do you think GM's must be flawless to be given their due? He landed Harden and Howard a few years after we ended the Yao/Mcgrady era.

    c'mon.

Royce was a gamble based on potential, nobody knew he would be the con-artist he was

Thabeet gave us someone over 6'6 at center and a first rounder

Nobody foresaw what happened with Lin, and it was unlikely he would've gotten much time behind Lowry/Dragic.

If you're genuinely critical of Morey for those reasons that you need to take a look at some of the clusterfks that other GM's get themselves into. He's been largely able to right his wrongs and completely rebuilt this team WITHOUT tanking.

Only mistake Morey made with Lin was bringing him back to Houston.

Thabeet and Flynn were throw ins. Granted the Flynn deal was very bad for different reasons than Flynn being in it...but Morey did correct the worse part of this deal very quickly.

The best part about Morey is not that he doesn't make mistakes, it's that he makes few of them and when he does he corrects them quickly. Most teams in the NBA get stuck with their mistakes for years but not the Rockets and that's thanks to Morey.
