Doesn't matter, haters will repeat the same BS about Harden being sht at Defense b/c it's easy. these box score watchers are already btching at Harden for flopping and free throwing his way to 30 points, what makes u think these same haters will even bother to watch Harden playing magnificent D?

Harden is improving every year and i like it.

Many people forget that Harden was regarded as a solid defender when he was playing for OKC.

He even received some national recognition during the playoffs for defending Kobe quite well.

The truth is Harden simply doesn't have the physical body type to be an effective perimeter defender. He's not equipped with lateral quickness nor stamina to be able to chase after little guys 38 minutes a game. So if you expect Harden to play good defense against quick NBA guards, of course you're going to get disappointed. And since he's naturally not good at it, Harden doesn't even put much effort into playing perimeter D because it's not worth it. People often make fun of this, but It's actually a common vicious cycle.

People are much less motivated to do things that they are not naturally good at.

The moment you put Harden in a situation where he feels physically more comfortable, i.e. where he doesn't have to move his feet as much, you're going to see a much better result defensively.

We're not but everyone else will

Also, Harden never runs back after he turns the ball over.

    damn...Harden haters confused and upset

they will disregard this and still cling to the “Harden plays no D” narrative

To understand Harden's defense, you have to understand his offense. He likes to control timing and direction. He likes to size up the opponent and use the element of surprise. On defense, mostly, he doesn't get to do those things. But when he focuses on being the initiator and using surprise -- as in stripping the ball, or reaching in front of a pass -- he can be sly and effective on defense as well.

we need a 2019 version of Harden's collage of defensive plays.
