NBA defenders are monsters for the most part. International basketball defense is a f**king joke and has the athleticism to match.
FIBA is a lot more forgiving when it comes to officiating physical defense. I've mentioned this in other threads, but the dearth of moving pick calls is downright criminal. Of course, they aren't (usually) as skilled as NBA defenders, but it doesn't mean that you can totally discount those offensive performances. Watch the Turkey-Finland game going on right now and tell me it is definitively easier to score in FIBA
Forget about "B" game, Garcia is bringing "no" game! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Courtside buzz in Bilbao is that Francisco Garcia indeed likely to sit out tonight's game vs. Team USA to rest up for DR's Group C finale</p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/507236233534529536">September 3, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> btw, that finale for DR will be against Turkey tomorrow at 2:30PM CT
After a very strong playoff showing in 2013, I had hopes that Garcia would be a sparkplug off the bench and bolster it. Unfortunately, he sucked ass all season. Hopefully next season is different.
Good strategy. DR isn't going to win vs. USA anyway so why not rest Garcia with his minor ankle injury.
