He also sprained his ankle. Didn't look too serious, but he always seems to get those nagging injuries which limit his effectiveness so who knows..?
Whoever plays better. Garcia hasn't been a passable 3&D guy for two years, Pap should be but hasn't proven he can.
He definitely can have a good game here and there, but he was pretty inconsistent last year. Don't forget his competition was NZ and Finland right? Not exactly NBA level.
I remember when we traded for him, he was just supposed salary match for TRob and maybe insurance for Delfino. But then he shot like crazy when given time and in that OKC series, he was invaluable. Then last year, past the first two weeks of the season and any OKC game, he was crap! He seems to have going his stroke again. If he can bring that stroke and shoot at least 38%, he will find some time.
I expect Francisco Garcia to get cut in late October. In my opinion, Houston and Garcia worked out a handshake, under-the-table agreement wherein Garcia would opt out so as to increase the team's available cap space, and Houston, in return, agreed to sign him to that same contract once the dust settled. No agreement that Garcia would make the roster but he winds up with his guaranteed money, regardless. This is informed speculation on my part but I think I'm right.
