Weird call, but I'm not complaining. Had Pacers +400 and Kings +130 parlayed that night, lmao. Wild ending.

The original post isn't even close to worst call ever.

    And then there is this:

That whole game between the Lakers and the Kings was one big worst call in the history of the NBA.

Doesn't Cousins touch it? That's when the clock should start right? Anyway:

Yes, but how could Terrance Ross have known that. He plays to the shot clock that he could see. If the clock had started on time, then he could've just taken one dribble instead of 2 before taking the shot. The clock also started after Cousins touched it but before Ross touched it. So the ref did see the deflection. It was just a delayed reaction by the ref/time keeper. With this precedent, the NBA should have to look at all buzzer beaters to see if the player actually shot it in 'real' time vs what the shot clock says.

This also opens door up to time keepers being able to influence a game by starting the time late. There is no drawback to starting the clock late if it'll be reviewed anyways, but it can potentially trick the team on offense to shoot later. As Rockets fans, we should all remember how clock operators don't always start times properly.

Honestly in this case, the officials made the mistake of ending the game like that. They should have the possession re-played again but minus the time that should have been taken out. The Raptors paid the price of losing by the mistake of the time keeper. The Officials should have given the Raptors another possession but reduce the time that is appropriate.

The Raptors goal is to release the ball before the buzzer went off. The clock should have started earlier but its not the Raptors job as a timekeeper. No team in the league would shoot the ball earlier if they suspect the timekeeper to be late on starting the time. Every team in that position's goal is just to shoot it before time runs out regardless if the timekeeper started the time late or not.

That's why I understand the frustration of the Raptors and their fans. The Raptors shouldn't be penalized because of the timekeeper's mistake. The officials in this case definitely should have replay the possession but reduce the time.

    Truth.

To this day I refer to the Kings as the 2002 NBA champions because, seriously, they are. They would've won game 6 easily sans ref interference, and the Nets stood no chance against them in the finals.

Agreed, but the LJ 4 point play on Antonio Davis 'foul' probably has to be the worst call I've seen in the nba so far.

Dude was a few steps away from LJ

    Yep, that was bad too.

And all of this was Dick Bavetta. Read the section titled "Question: What was the most disturbing subplot of the playoffs?" from this article:
    http://proxy.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/020606

    ...it's eye-opening.

Then consider that around the time Joey Crawford was getting suspending by the NBA for the Tim Duncan incident, it came out that (paraphrasing) "there's a noticeable divide among officials in the NBA; they are either in the Bavetta camp or the Crawford camp." The implication in the original context being that "Bavetta-ites" were "company man" game-fixers, while the rest actually attempted to call games fairly.

The stuff above is the biggest reason I don't follow the NBA much anymore.
