I enjoy a good shooter, however, we do not get anything consistent from the 3 and 4 spots. Battier, great IQ low scoring and that will not change in the playoffs. Chuck, great IQ, hustle, with low low scoring. Juwan, use to score, can't throw it in the ocean. Hustle is horrible. However, if you're Rashard Lews, Mo Williams, Steve Francis (I know what everyone thinks), the aforementioned can go to the hole and create something. The guys above cannot finish around the rim. Bonzi totally out of shape and will not be a factor in the playoffs. JVG is killing any confidence Kirk has. Kirk can drive and finish at the rim, however, our offense is designed to post Yao and everyone else shoot threes. Think about a HQ four who can jump out of gym. As soon as they double off Yao, it's alley oop time, especially with Rafer throwing the alley oop. I said we have 2 wasted spots, we really have 4 (Deke and Jake both immobile and get killed by quicker teams and do not offer anything on the offensive end. Novak and Luther both can shoot lights out, however, they give up more points than they give). Trade time Jake, Novak, Luther and #1 for some High IQ athletic 3 and 4's. Novak is the same as Bryce Drew, Maloney, Nachbar (Nach would probably kill Novak one on one).
Mehh. We have decent athleticism. An athletic backup PG would be more than enough. We're the second best 3-pt shooting team in the league. To upgrade our athleticism, we would have to lose something else (defense, 3-pt shooting, etc) because we are over the cap and also because you can't have an entire roster on the floor. Our best bet is to get an athletic backup PG who can hit the 3. Other than that, its give and take. Everyone wants to be super athletic, have the best post presense, a superstar swingman, be able to hit the 3 and be the best defensive team in the league. This team will improve dramatically if we can get someone who's quick on defense, can pass decently, and hit a 3 at least at the same efficiency as Rafer. Go for the best backup PG with the MLE, and draft a project PF with our pick. That's the best we can do this summer. I hope Bonzi stays, but those two additions is worth much more than the difference between Bonzi and Snyder.
You have only seen a couple of teams do this. The GSW game was a fluke since T-Mac wasn't on the floor, if he is playing that changes everything.] If you haven't noticed we just did overhaul the team from the disasterous days of the Steve Francis / Mo Taylor / Kelvin Cato days; and who is not thankful for that...
Our athleticism is by far near the end of the league. But compare our team's athleticism vs the Heat's last year. They had who? Shaq, Wade, and a bunch of fat role players. Hey! That kinda reminds us of our team this year. Athleticism is one part of the game, but it's certainly not the most important. Good fundamental skills will beat raw athleticism most of the time.
