One thing that makes the comparison with Dumars/Thomas tricky:

Curry/Thompson are not yet done playing, so who knows what they will have achieved by the end of it. We know the entire body of work for Thomas/Dumars already. Curry/Thompson have one NBA title so far, and is in the 2nd NBA Finals. Will they manage more than this?

The Pistons declined pretty quickly after their two titles--- won 50 game and made conference finals the following year, 48 games and 1st round exit the following year and became a lotto team thereafter.

I wonder if the Warrior team will be more like the Pistons or like the Spurs who keep winning 50+ games every year even when they are not champions.

Started to watch the NBA regularly somewhere around 88 or 89, and I don't recall ever seeing a backcourt that could shoot like these two. And I don't know if Dumars and Isiah would contain them because they don't score off the dribble. They come off screens and just make everything they throw up for stretches.

If they were Harden-type iso players then I could see JD and IT neutralizing them to an extent, but with the way they move through screens all over the court, it really doesn't matter who is covering them initially.

If it's the "best shooting backcourt" then yes. Hands down, no questions asked.

As far as overall best duo, I would have to reserve judgement.

Have to wonder what the Nash/Johnson backcourt would have been had he stayed in Phoenix. He was so young and wouldn't have had the burden of being THE guy which he never made it into.

No better backcourts come to mind honestly, but backcourts have always been a passer + shooter. And with Magic and Stockton they would be graded so differently.

Lol why have I never know Curry's first name is Wardell, pretty funny, I've never seen it anywhere, never seen anybody say it or talk about it before until now.

Sick attempt at reverse jinx. I see what you're doing. That being said, no, they're not the best backcourt ever. Obv answer is James Harden and Patrick Beverley.

Magic Johnson and pick someone off the street.

    or

Take that someone off the street and pair with Michael Jordan.

But, statistics are saying that Dumars, in his best 2 seasons, was better than klay, in any season he's had so far.

Also, it's not the stats favoring modern teams offense. It's the rules.

The IT/Dumars Pistons are the championship team most similar to the current Warriors. Backcourt-oriented team. 3pt shooting big man. Excellent defense. Those Pistons weren't as outside-in as the current Warriors, as they posted Aguirre/Dantley/Edwards/Mahorn quite a bit. But their guards were their 2 best players.

The one stat in which Klay is below most top stars is A/TO. A lot of it is his role. But all the top SGs had at least one season where they averaged over 5 assists. I'd be curious to see if he can do that, too.
