Maybe, the premise in the original post was the issue since after the disclaimer, the OP went ahead and made the comparison. Indeed, Jalen and Amen have shown early chemistry but, once again, over-the-head comparisons need to be tempered. Maybe, the potential for an elite duo is there, but it is too early to tell and there is still a long way to go. Hopefully, they will really develop into a potent duo.
Bill Cartwright of the first three peat was a great scoring center. Luc Longley, while not a scoring center, was vital to the triangle offense in the Bulls system. There were numerous quotes from the players themselves of how important he was especially after Luc got a shoulder injury and was unable to play for a significant stretch.
That's weird--I find that almost hard to believe. The 5 blocks must be the sticking point, probably haven't been a whole lot of 5 block games this season with 3P shooting going up even higher than before.
Nah but Jalen and Sengun throws it back to Tmac and Yao for me. Amen is a freak 1 of 1 player only comp for me is a smaller Giannis
Do not want to be controversial, but Jalen and Amen are much more tougher mentally than their comparisons. They were still making mistakes, but they were not hesitate or scared at clutch times. To me, that's make them so likable in addition to the physical talents.
Jalen fans man. Just acknowledge the fact he is balling out of his mind lately. Maybe let him ball out of his mind for half a season first, before you start comparing him to MJ. Jesus.
Someone reposted what Frank the Tank put on a podcast about Jalen Green lineups: How the Jalen lineup was around +5 ; but without Jalen +21 or so: VanVleet-Jalen Green-Dillon-Jabari-Sengun (+5) VanVleet-Amen-Dillon-Jabari-Sengun (+27) Insinuating that Jalen Green was a problem. ______ I then responded (small sample size); but this is better: Jalen Green - Amen - Dillon - Tari Eason - Sengun (+57) VanVleet - Amen - Dillon - Tari Eason - Sengun (+62.5) Insinuating that maybe Jabari is the stick in the mud. Amen providing vertical spacing......remember when people were laughing at Bruno vertical spacing over Sengun. Well now people understand it, with Amen, how good vertical spacing can open up things.
The comparison is admittedly extreme, but the concept is basically right. Amen's game fits Jalen's in a similar way. And the upshot is that while Jabari is out, Ime will watch this pairing and possibly rethink who starts and who comes off the bench.
