Are the Texans a legit Super Bowl Contender this season?

I didn't realize that only undefeated teams make the Super Bowl.

My problem is that after 2-0 posters dug **** out of their ass and had the audacity to call the Texans super bowl contenders BAAHAWAHAH. Furthermore, these same ludicrous posters tried to compare the Texans to the Saints of last year COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that our defense secondary sucks and Saints lead the league in takeaways and forced fumbles.

 

I'm among the ludicrous posters..because I said all that.

The Texans had a bad game yesterday. It happens. I still think they're Super Bowl contenders. I think they're a team that will be a tough out in the playoffs...because yesterdays' offensive output is an anomaly.

 

The Texans obviously need to fix their secondary issues before anyone can claim how tough they're going to be in the playoffs. not every playoff team is a complete team, but no tough one has such a glaring hole.

 

Yet you still ignore the defense, whats wrong with being objective? I am big Texans fan , but I think with my brain.

 

I think they are "contenders" in the sense that I think they will make the playoffs and that gives them a shot. I don't think they are really good enough to get there though, and I think the Saints comparison is a bad one.

Our defensive line still doesn't generate pressure all that well and our secondary is horrible. Our defense just doesn't do anything particularly well. They bend, they break, they don't force turnovers, they don't generate pressure...

They need to get better at something. If they are going to consistently give up yardage than they need to be able to make big plays.

 

Finally ! Someone who speaks the truth! I gave them a little pass against the Colts, however against the Redskins was complete BS. Santana Moss and Joey 38 yr old Galloway were the two starting receivers.

 

i think i am being objective. you can check the rockets boards to see that i can be pretty objective.

i think this team can outscore teams enough to be dangerous enough to advance through the playoffs. i might be wrong.

i don't see any perfect teams...any dominant teams..so far this season. none. every team has a weakness, it seems. the colts look like they have 2 major weaknesses in rushing and run defense.

the colts and saints right now are just ahead of arizona and detroit in terms of rush defense...they're 28 and 30th in the league respectively...where's the outcry that those teams aren't contenders because they can't stop the run after 3 games?

the saints are 30 in rushing so far. they are pretty one-dimensional on offense at this point. is anyone suggesting that team isn't a contender?

As compared to the NBA...the thing in MLB and NFL is making the playoffs. Once you get there, you need to win one game at a time. The Texans blasting of the Colts and their ability to come back against the 'skins showed me they are capable of winning any given game. And I think they are going to make the playoffs....thus....Super Bowl contenders.

 

and yet...they won that game!

they can give up a bazillion yards...as long as they end up with more points on the scoreboard than their opponent, who the hell cares? this isn't a 162 game season...it's a 16 game season. 2 wins down...8 more to go.

 

until yesterday i'd say they were a bend/don't break.

they gave up 27 points yesterday....but they were pretty effective at keeping the Colts and Skins out of the end zone when they needed to.

 

So you have Arizona and Detroit in the super bowl or in your pool of "contenders"?

i don't have arizona or detroit among my super bowl contenders...but i think most people have the colts and saints among theirs...and arizona and detroit are the only teams in the league that stop the run worse than the saints and colts.
