Would you consider the Colts legit Superbowl contenders? Or the Saints?

Texans need to show they can be consistent. I agree with the posters who have said that this would be better asked over the bye week.

Yes, because those are the teams that get there, so you have to consider them, the Saints are the current champions with almost no change.
And right now, it early you still have to look a bit back.
Would you consider them as a legit contender before week 1?
And like other said, you have to be consistent to be a legit contender, like the Colts have been.

You cant say the texans are a legit contender, if they havent played in the playoffs.

And dont get me wrong, I root for the texans, and I hope the make the playoffs, but its too early to say. wait till midseason and then you can say who are the contenders.

The past has nothing to do with the present. The Texans, if not for the Colts and Bengals rolling over to the Jets, would have made the playoffs last year despite all the choking to end games.

The Texans were a playoff quality team last year and they have built on that this year.

I wouldnt consider the Bengal's Superbowl contenders, even though they were in the playoffs last year. We have a much better team.

I would say that 3-4 teams from each conference should be labeled as Superbowl contenders...and I cant think of 4 teams in the AFC that are currently better than the Texans.

I think it is too early to call a non-playoff team like the Texans a Super Bowl contender, but they looked as good as anybody in the AFC. The Titans looked as impressive as anybody, but they were playing the Raiders. I guess I would rank the Patriots and Ravens above the Texans at this point, but not by much.

I understand playing it safe, but if you think this team doesn't have the talent to make a strong playoff push, you must not be watching. They were good last year, but somehow would shoot themselves in the foot half the season.

Sunday's win was a quality one, but they need to follow up with more of the same. The pieces are finally all there, so lets see if they don't squander it.

In my opinion, they were one of the 3 best teams in Week 1 (with Green Bay and New England). But that's Week 1. Get back to me after Week 10, and I'll answer this.

I guess our fans are delusional. I was arguing a point that surely not all fans that are penciling us in for the Super Bowl are a representation of Texans fans... but it appears they are, lol.

I think there's a difference between saying they're my Super Bowl pick and merely saying they're a Super Bowl contender. I don't think you have to be delusional to think this team is one of the teams that COULD find itself in the Super Bowl this season...especially considering recent Super Bowl history.

exactly. a contender doesnt mean they are the favourite ( :p to Leroy), it just means that they have a chance. And they certainly do have a chance for the simple fact that in week 1, they showed that can manhandle a "elite" team.

To deny that this team has some great talent at key spots is not being honest. Also, to deny they have some areas of concern is being blind. But, just like any superbowl hopefull, if the texans play to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses...they certainly have a chance

Max already made a good point, but how many teams in the AFC, as of this moment, can you give me a more compelling case for their possible trip to the Superbowl than the Texans?

Let people bask in the moment, as if Texan fans haven't waited long enough for it, jeez.

I think the term "contender" is being taken too seriously by some. As others have stated, I don't see a reason why the Texans shouldn't be considered CONTENDERS for the Super Bowl. They were every bit as impressive, if not MORE impressive, in their victory on Sunday than every other team in the NFL. To be a contender does not mean you must GO to the Super Bowl in order to have a successful season...it just means that you have a shot. But, I think in order to REALLY be taken seriously as contenders by the rest of the country, the Texans need to come out on Sunday and take care of business.

I voted yes because they have the talent to be a top team in the AFC. Whether or not the Texans can consistently play up to their ability remains to be seen.
