This topic has been brought up on SLC sports talk radio the last few weeks. According to some so-called friends of Shandon, he would like to opt out of his contract next year and resign with the Jazz.

Shandon definitely fits in well with the Jazz offense which is based on screens and off the ball cuts. Also, the Jazz always get the ball to the point guard on the break so Shandon never lead the break but was an excellent finisher.

My wife and I were big Shandon fans when he played for Utah. I visit your BBS to try and stay informed and keep up with his game. Shandon's a good guy and a team player. I'm not sure he fits in with today's selfish one-on-one style of NBA play.

I definatly agree with the last post. Heck if I were Shandon, I would want a trade. My services are no longer needed in Houston. The Rockets really need to get on track and see that their top free agent is not liking his situation here and might be thinking about playing elsewhere. As for Utah...No. Why? Because Utah has already deemed him a quitter and a guy that quit on Utah. The fans hate him, the writers HATE HATE him. No way he's going back to Utah.

Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!

This situation kinda reminds me of the Kobe/Jones situation back in LA a couple of years ago. Kobe was on the bench for his first few years, but there was no way that you could keep him on the bench with the way he was playing. There just wasnt enough room for both Jones and Kobe, and Jones got his ass traded.

I'm wondering how long you can keep Mobley on the bench. I mean he still gets starter's minutes and all, but getting the start is still pretty important to a player. I hope Mobley doesnt care as much as I think he will. Mobley is getting better (despite his poor decision making every now and then)... he's got all the tools needed to become a great force on offense (if he's not already). He's got a good shot, which he can extend to a fall back, step back, turn-around, and fadeway jumper. He's got good handles, of course a quick first step, and the killer instinct.

In the next few years, I wouldnt really be surprised if we see some kind of "Kobe like" games from him. He's already shown that potential.

All this leads to the question: Is there any room for Shandon? I hope so, but I dont think so.

I am pretty sure Shandon Anderson will re-sign with the Rockets. Remember when Anderson signed with us back in 1999 he said he likes Houston because it is close and similar to his hometown of Atlanta. He also said in the press conference that he has always wanted to play in Houston and he didn't know what took him so long to join the Rockets. If he always wanted to play for the Rockets from before, he would not sign with another team. Another thing Anderson said was that he wants to team up with Steve Francis to be the Rockets starting backcourt for at least seven years. He has a good relationship with teammate Steve Francis and his best friend on the team is Kenny Thomas. Anderson gives Thomas advice when playing basketball. Since Anderson was Thomas' mentor, I think Thomas would play an important role in getting Anderson to re-sign with the Houston Rockets. All that is going on is Anderson is not playing as well as he usually does and he will gain self-confidence to get back on track.

I just dont see Shandon walking to Utah, thats wishful thinking on Jazz fans parts. If Anderson leaves the Rockets, he would have to either sign with a team having cap space or start over on the 1st yr of a mid level exception. The Rockets are true to their word and will give Shandon his payday even if he is struggling some this season. I just dont see Shandon taking another big monetary hit by starting over in the 1st yr of an exception.
