POOF goes the 'hilarious' racist, xeonophobic, jingoistic, bigot 'comedian' of the BBS... As usual.

Aren't there any smart right wingers out there? I'd seriously like to know if there's any reason at all -- apart from racism and his funny name -- to vote against Barack Obama in the 08 presidential race. I'm hyped as hell about this guy.

    No doubt

Unfortunately the powers that be around here have tolerated TJ's racist attitudes for a while now and have allowed it to continue. So he probably won't be called for it.

Of course she does and I agree there's no guarentee that she would get past Obama in the primaries, that said I still thinks she has the edge, money and organization can make up for a lot.

My post was in response to T_J's assertion that Hillary Clinton will be done in by Swift Boating like Kerry was. Hillary Clinton isn't Kerry and she's shown she has a penchant for playing hardball politics too. If Hillary Clinton is the nominee I expect people to try to Swift Boat her but knowing her history I would expect her to hit back just as hard.

I wouldn't vote for him because I disagree with his positions. Is that reason enough?

Don't know much about him yet. Haven't done any research. Don't know his views. But just cuz I probably won't vote for him doesn't mean it's cuz of race or a "funny" name.

Could Guiliani carry NY in a general election? If he does - then I think the Democrats would be very hard-pressed to win.

Of course it is. You gave a reason that wasn't making fun of his color, or his middle name, linking him to a brutal dictator. I'd be interested in which positions you disagree with, but I think I might know the main one. Hey, you're consistent. :)

If Giuliani runs, his liberal positions on social issues and his personal life (2 divorces, lived with a couple gay guys during one of them, mistress hanging around the governor's mansion during one of his marriages) will not be his only hurdles. New Yorkers remember the pre-9/11 Giuliani and are several reasons that that version of America's mayor was never considered a prospect for the presidency.

I'm not a New Yorker and remember the pre-9/11 Giuliani. I would not vote for him under any circumstances.

You probably do. In addition to his abortion stance (abortions for some, miniature American flags for others), I think his stance on guns is WAY out there (at least according to his response to the 1998 Illinois State Legislative National Political Awareness Test where he says that all semi-automatic weapons should be banned), basically limiting the citizenry to the purchase of 19th century tech for weapons. All of that, plus he is an Oreo. ;)

Meh, California isn't going to elect a Republican president anyway though, unless the Dems run someone really crappy and the Pubs run someone like Arnold (who in some ways is a RINO). Oh how I wish there was a candidate at some point that I could really get excited about. McCain is probably the closest that I have seen, though I take issue with him in a few areas.

Oh, and there is a pretty cool web site for people who want to get a quick idea of a candidates positions called Project Vote Smart, in case anyone would be interested.

    That's interesting.

I was always under the impression that he was extremely popular in all of NY state (I live in Cali though so I wouldn't really know).

Maybe why he didn't go vs. Hillary for the Senate seat.

As a PUB - I always thought that Rudy would conceivably carry NY with ease. Would be nice to have a "non-traditional" (ie. Southern/pro-Bible) Republican to sort of "redefine" the party in some ways. No matter what - people have a very negative image of the GOP right now (see 2006 vote) and another Southern-type candidate wouldn't go to well i think.

I predict that the power swings back and forth for 10-12 year increments forever. All politicians are inherently crappy. One party gains power, screws it up, a sweeping election gets them out. The new ones take power, screw it up, and sweeping elections boots them.

The Republican Party should turn to Pat Buchannan, Tom Tancredo, and Lou Dobbs to turn things around. I want the Paleocon-wing of the Republican Party to emerge and remove all the so called 'conservative Republicans out of office. Isolationism, limited immigration, fiscal discipline, and a conservative social agenda are all issues Paleoconservatives are well known for and should strive to address. Bush and Co. have done more than enough to take our country down the toilet...

I'm black and liberal and I've taken exception to a few of Jorge's tacky Obama comments, but black Charles Whitman looks a little too much like him for this to not be funny. Broham needs an afro-pick, a barber or some S-Curl no-lye relaxer post-haste.

Thank you, it was a personal favorite as well. I was literally spewing my drink as I typed that post. One of my personal top 5's. I received a few congratulatory emails on it as well. Just greatness -- it had it all -- timing, wit, guile, and execution. Just a perfect post.
