They'll suck and there will be in-fighting between Iverson and Anthony. They both want the ball, all the time.
It seems that 90% of the people replying in this thread think it is a bad idea and the chemistry will not work. The Nuggets management must have thought otherwise, or at least not that it would be this bad. I am sure they questioned AI and Melo about it (not that they would know how it is going to go). It will be interesting to see if a team can have two 30+ point scorers every night. I do not see it happening, but I will watch as many Nuggets games as I can once Melo comes back to watch them excel or explode. At the very least this will help them sell more tickets/merchandise.
I don't think that it will work. The Nuggets already were scoring 108 a night without AI. I think their defense will suffer and their offensive chemistry will suffer as well. AI is a shot clock killer. He's used to having the ball for an entire possesion. I don't think that will work in Denver.
what I mean is that he can shoot off of pics, and catch and shoot. I guess I should have stated that differently, I don't mean he doesn't need the ball to be effective because I understand he doesn't really do much else. I really don't care about a/t ratio from a small forward.
I can picture Nuggets half-court offensive to be even more stagnant. 'Melo does iso on the blocks and Iverson does iso on the wings. So I can imagine the team just standing around when either of those two guys have the ball.
They are like the Wizards except their top four offensive players and role players outside of their top four are much much better. Camby, Evans, Najera, Nene, Diawara, Kleiza are a great group of defending-rebounding-hustle players that don't require a lot of touches on offense. That leaves AI, Carmelo, Smith, and Boykins to take care of the offense. You can't just slow down their fast break and stop Carmelo to stop the Nuggets offense like you could last season. You stop their fast break and Carmelo and you have to deal with Iverson. In the playoffs I think they can beat the Suns and Mavericks but not the Spurs or Rockets with a 100% McGrady. Teams like the Lakers and Jazz don't stand a chance against them. I don't think there will be a problem with AI and Carmelo, it might take a couple of games to adjust, but come April they're going to be averaging 50+ points a game and the Nuggets around 110 points a game.
