its just a coincidence, if they could have lebron, kobe, howard, chris paul, garnett, etc. I bet they would want them, and not caring about his skin color.
So you used old players to try and prove it as such, yet forgetting back when they were competitive a few years ago they were a mainly black team? I know people on here like to see it as black/white guys, like with the Jazz but I honestly think it has nothing to do with how a guy is recruited these days.
Larry Bird also went on record saying that he got pissed off when teams would try to guard him with a white player.
No kidding! Man, I loved me some 90s Pacers. One of my favorite non-Rockets teams ever. The Davis "Bros", Smits, Miller, McKey, etc. The rivalry that team had with the Knicks was probably the best in the NBA at the time.
Not really, Larry bird is just trying really hard to find the next Larry Bird. Too bad he is failing.
How can they be racist when their most famous player over the last 30 years or so is Weggie Miller, who is half Ferengi.
If you knew the history, the fans and management were looking to pick a local white boy instead of Reggie Miller.
I think you are all forgetting the GM now is Larry Bird. Back in the Reggie days the GM was Donnie Walsh (I think). As another poster said, its pretty obvious Bird's regime has a preference for white players (i.e. slight racism). They're not totally racist, which is why they still have Danny Granger in there, and they're not stupid as well so they'd probably take Kobe or Howard if they were offered but you only need to look at their roster to see that if you have player A who is white and you have player B who is black and A is as good or just a little bit worse than B they'd take A every time. Why else would they fall in love and draft Psycho T with a lottery pick? Everybody knows white men can't jump
Well not related to racial structure of Indiana Pacers but does anyone remember Reggie Miller's house burning down because of racism?
