I don't think anybody would argue that Kolb is anywhere near as good as those two, so I'm not sure what your point is.
I don't think anyone has argued that Kolb is as good as either of those guys. His absolute ceiling is probably Alex Smith from last year. And while those other guys do have sucky o-lines, according to the broadcast last night, the Cardinals were the first team EVER to give up 8+ sacks in consecutive games. Not even the David Carr o-line did that.
It was pretty obvious in the preseason that their OL was total garbage. I'm not sure how they managed to win those 4 games, especially @ NE and totally shalacking Philly, but it's amusing to me that Kolb turns in a heroes performance last week and now he has a bad game and suddenly he's terrible and not the answer? The court of public opinion seems a little trigger happy. That, or everybody got their expectations up way too high.
He also missed an easy TD to Fitzgerald after he did a double move and was as open as the Pacific Ocean on a drive that ended up as an FG. Regardless of whether or not it's on Kolb, they don't look like a playoff team one way or another.
Being a UH fan, I want him to succeed but it's obvious that the Cardinals weren't winning because of him. Sure, he's played clutch so far this year but he had to be clutch because he wasn't playing at a high level. He went 15-27 for 143 yards at New England, not exactly eye-popping numbers. They need him to be serviceable, play within his capabilities, call a good game on the field and if he can't win a game for them then don't lose it with bad mistakes like his end zone throw toward Larry Fitzgerald last week (though he ultimately led them back and into OT). In other words, a game manager. He only has one road win in his career so he has to be able to win away from home.
It seems the NFC West has a certain game plan that they're all in. Keep games close with good defense and a run game. The core of their defense, Washington, Peterson, Wilson, Docket and Campbell is really strong. I wonder how hard they were looking at DeCastro or OL free agents like Nicks, Grubbs. I'm guessing "for real" like the late Singletary 49ers were "for real" and just needed their offense to not be a minus. Hell it was popular opinion after the 2011 preseason that the 49ers were in the Andrew Luck chase.
Kolb has a higher ceiling than Alex Smith. Pretty crazy that they outgained the Rams, held the ball longer, had the same number of turnovers and they lost by 14. Bradford goes 7-21 and wins the game, throwing 2 TDs. Just another brutal Thursday night game. I think it doesn't say much about either team.

Maybe Dennis Green should have ranted that the Cardinals are who we thought they were back when he flipped in 2006 because it applied back then and now. If they had an offensive line, they'd be a Super Bowl contender. But one of the worst NFL franchises ever continues to be just that.
The Cardinals just became the first NFL team to ever start 4-0 and fall to 4-8. I'd say they were about as real as a 3 dollar bill and Santa Claus.
