i'd say theres about 20-25 HD channels now. And its $6 extra a month for the Hd box. On mine commercials are the only thing that dont show if full screen but I could care less about that... As for the difference between HD and no HD, it does make a difference if you have 720p, 480 maybe not. With 720p I refuse to watch sports/espn on a non HD channel and luckily, all sports are broadcast on HD channels. As for Xbox 360, if you download any high quality videos, its well worth it.
Ognilecaf, during the U.S. Open, most LEXUS, FEDEX, and American Express commercials were in HD and widescreen. Watch for this next time. Thanks for that...but I don't have an "upconvert" DVD player yet . I thought you'd mention a different movie. Is Blade Runner in "upconvert" HD?
I've seen it all. Personal insults because someone doesn't own an HDTV. Kinda makes me want to sell mine. r****ded.
You play regular DVD's in an upconvert DVD player so if you have Blade Runner, it will upconvert that dvd. I bought a Samsung upconvert dvd player for $100 and got a $6 HDMI cable off of ebay.
Everyone should have one, however, until there is a LOT more programming, it is not really worth it. If you watch sports it is a must....but not if you just watch regular TV. DD
I need to dig around and see if Blade Runner has been put out in a remastered, Criterion style upgrade. Part of the problem is that I have about 3 copies already, and there is a new version that will hopefully come out by the end of the year, or in '07, that is supposed to be the real "director's cut." Legal mumbo-jumbo has kept various deleted scenes from being used, but I think that is getting ironed out, and Ridley Scott can finally have a Blade Runner worthy of, well... ME! edit: and what MB said again, dammit!
Señor Deckardo... I have yet to see the entire movie... they keep showing it over and over in TELEFUTURA (dubbed), and I keep seeing the same scenes, incompletely seeing the movie, but I just don't have enough time... you WILL forgive me, sí? You cheapskate. BONUS:
Yea i see a lot of commercials in HD. I was just saying "some commercials" are the only thing i run across that arent in full screen hd
i never called you cheap, you but you free to label yourself whatever you like: masterbater oops baiter!
Maybe this belongs in another thread, but... anyone else besides me noticed that NBC Sunday Night Football has trouble FOCUSING their HD cameras when reaching a long distance? It appears that the FOCUSING is lost coming back from commercials, then you can tell they immediately change the FOCUS range to get sharper detail. Has anyone else noticed this? I don't have a way to prove this... can anyone capture this on an HD tuner card?
its ok Utahman95, you can start a thread dissing on the Non cheap skates. you can take your Sam's Choice self and create more polls than Ivanna Trump's home country. its a free country and you can always upgrade to higher technology, unless you live under the Taliban. that would a kind act if you sold your HDTV, maybe sell it to Master Baiter. that would a touching momment!
I buy myself a 12-pack of Sam's Choice Cola every week. This is how I've come to be able to afford an HDTV Receiver. Most people tease me because I drink Sam's Choice Cola, but I show them I also eat out of a Great Value can of diced peaches. "Utahman95". LOL! . That's classic shiznit right there, yo.
Now that you mention it....I do remember this....But it didnt last that long and for some reason(maybe this is just me) the HD picture seems better on nbc football then other channels
Ognilecaf, Congrats, you and I are both living in the year 2006! all these primitives walking around with their sony walkmans and playing Colecovision will hate you for it! you are trying to move technology forward, you realize that SDTV was meant for shows like the Flintstones and Gomer Pile. Thanks to you, we have HD sports! and HD DVRs! and XBOX360 and PS3! These apes want us to be caged in and act like primitives. DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL!!
