have u seen the difference between ESPN HD and ESPN? During the Rockets HD games on HD TNT, I can see Mattress Mack's shirt, it says "gallery furniture", while regular TV it looks like a dark spot
its not all about cable. PS3 and XBOX360, not to mention PS2 and XBOX1 plus your DVDS would look 10000x better and appears in its natural widescreen form plus many now include VGA inputs to display your computer content and you can display digital photos in hi res
wrong i could care less about the expensive cars/furniture but i do care about my technology hence i dont have a 486 computer anymore hence my cell phone doesnt look like Wesley Snipes in New Jack City hence i dont have 14.4 dial up my point, which you have missed like a Juwan Howard jumper is that people who spend $$$$ on other crap and dont spend $ on a nice TV, i call them out as cheapos and slime
good for you Miguel, you get it! you are Sam Cassell and arent afraid to take a shot, while others pass the ball when they are wide open.
Yup, because I'm the one that is calling people cheap and slime because they don't have a HDTV. He needs his head examined.
lol, all b/c their TV doesn't meet your standards. maybe your a cheap ass and slimeball for not buying expensive cars and furniture.
awesome, you are the Patrick Bateman of technology. For some reason I think every post in this thread by you is being sarcastic. I might be wrong.
I wouldn't necessarily call them CHEAPSKATES, I don't know the correct word, but... Rocket River, you asked "what's the difference?": Better Picture More lines of resolution mean there could be much more detail than standard television. Better Sound Standard Television allows for Stereo (left and right speakers), or simulated surround, which do not handle channeled audio like Surround Sound Dolby 5.1 (two rear, two front, one center, a subwoofer) allows in HD. Wider View On an NFL game on HDTV, you can see the secondary, linebackers, defensive and offensive lines and even the running back, while on a standard definition TV you will only see from the linebackers to the quarterback. More range of channels A digital (HD) receiver can accept more channels from one station and also more information. There are weather RADAR sweep channels for the major network local channels, while standard definition receivers do not allow for this. Someone here at work called me cheapskate 'cuz I didn't have cable, but I had an HD receiver and a big screen TV. My answer: "oh, I am sorry, man... I guess they should have told me at the store that if I didn't have cable, I couldn't buy this big screen. Why didn't they? "
At some point, all major TV companies will broadcast in HDTV and for those who still have regular TVs will need to buy a converter box, last time I heard.
Incorrect. All major companies will broadcast DIGITALLY, not HDTV. And also, if you don't have a digital TV, you will still receive the standard definition. NO ONE WILL HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING. You do have to buy a receiver (or converter) if you want to see in better quality or hear better quality. http://www.dtv.gov/consumercorner.html#needanewtv
I certainly understand those putting off getting one. Especially those like me, who had a perfectly good, if not HD, Sony XBR, and had to wait for the thing to finally crater to justify (in my mind) spending for an HDTV, although I could already have afforded it. But damn! If Fatty can't see the difference, he seriously needs his eyes examined.
You forgot a big one, for me... upconverting DVDs from 480p to 540p. Those extra pixels make a hell of a difference on a high quality DVD movie. Take The Fifth Element, for example. Put it on an outstanding SDTV, like my old XBR, and then upconvert it to 540p on an HDTV. You WILL notice the difference! edit: just saw MB's post!
No way, if he was, he'd be on his third set as he'd need one for every room in the house... And of course, he'd overpay so he can tell his friends that he got one first...
