Fatty doesn't need a steak. Fatty gets drunk and gets in his truck and runs over a cow, while having anal (raw) with some dumb slut, then Fatty drags the carcass over a ditch full of flaming gasoline, then he goes home and eats it and sits in front of his 27 inch Zenith in the original wooden cabinet and watches his investments appreciate on it, while the rest of you idiots are out wasting your money like a bunch of morons
just started reading this thread and wow, pretty damn long! anyways, when i purchased my house about 20 months ago, the very first thing i bought was my 50" sony plasma tv with surround sound and dropped almost $10,000 on it, with the whole nine yards including installation on the wall and hiding all the wires, the best quality also comes from upgrading your cables and speaker wires too. (financed the sucker for 2 yrs! interest free too!) so call me r****ded by spending so much, but i watch a lot of tv when i am at home and entertain my friends too. To me this was the best thing i purchased outside of my home and car. To be able to watch sports, movies, shows, and the availability of games (i quit playing games after college ) is what makes me enjoy my home. now of course everybodies priorities are different and financial conditions of people may prohibit purchasing an hdtv, but tinman is referring to those who have already spent thousands of dollars on furniture and game systems plus games but don't get the luxury to fully capture the capacity of the system. i am sure there will always be people that don't adapt to change in technology as quickly as society would like, and im sure in the future i may be one of them as i get alot older, but if you have the capacity and willingness to purchase one, you must not pass the opportunity up!
I got a 42" plasma HDTV I bought about 1.5 years ago I think. I've got 7.1 surround speakers (4 embedded in the ceiling overhead and on the walls) including a subwoofer that could crack my foundation. Great HD picture and I absolutely love it - Lord of the Rings became my favorite movie(s) thanks to the audio output of my surround sound. Do I regret it or think it's a stupid purchase? Nope. Because I never really bought much of anything before that and saved and invested money. Do I think it's a necessary purchase? Nope. I could have lived without it since I really don't watch a ton of tv. Do I think people that don't buy HDTV's are cheapskates? Of course not. There are people that don't care about that kind of stuff. The fact is, we all spend money on stuff we probably don't need to or shouldn't - they're luxuries. Whether or not we're each financially capable of spending that money wisely is something I can't answer. You know your finances (hopefully) - you answer. There are things many people who won't buy an HDTV do that I don't do : I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't gamble (ok, so there's that stock market thing...), I try not to eat out much, and if I do, I try to keep it under $8-$9, etc. Fatty, how much booze do you drink a year? How often do you eat out? A TV I bought for around $3000 1.5 years ago is still returning enjoyment for me and will continue to for the next 2-3 years at least. Consider all the booze you've bought in the past 1.5 years and in the next 2-3 years. Each time you bought one, you pissed it away in a few hours - literally. Now that is horrible investing. Face it... we're all dumb with our money in some way. As long as we're not just flat out dumb with it all the time, it's cool...
So...I accelerated the process by about 2 months... http://www.buy.com/prod/olevia_323v...PageFormat/40/imgNum/3/202787960.html#moreimg Yay.
so dunk, when Tmac soared through the air and dunked on Shawn Bradley on HD-TNT NBA playoffs, did the subwoofer thud rattle your bones??? did you enjoy Sharapova on surround sound on HD CBS US Opens? I dont watch a lot of TV either dunk.. I experience it. that's what people don't understand. I dont play xbox 360, i experience it. i experience the clarity of 720p, i experience the 5.1 surround sound.
First of all I own a Samsung 50" DLP HDTV and since I purchased it a little over a year ago, TV has never been the same. It is truely awesome. Not only the calirity, but the aspect ratio. With 16X9, you see more of the football field during a down. You can see the plays develop better because you see more of the players. In Basketball, you get a lot more of the hardwood and, again, catch a lot of what Standard misses. On another note, this past week I had the opportunity to use a Sony HDCAM with fixed prime lenses, a value of over $250,000. It was amazing. I have fallen in love with HDTV all over again because I can see the difference it makes in a video. With HDDVDs on the way, every house in America should have an HDTV. Don't get left behind.
PS2, PS3, Wii Connecting my PC to it. Getting a cheap video card to have a 2nd VGA out on my PC, just so I can be in bed and lazy while on my PC and browsing CF.net Also, connecting it to my HDDVR (which I originally got only because of the extra 40 gigs of space...but will eventually buy an SATA drive for and upgrade anyway...from 80 gigs to maybe...oh say....200+80. I'll be getting an HDMI cable online somewhere as well monday, find a 6 foot cable that would work for my HDDVR, already have component cables for my PS2, and I assume that PS3 comes with component. Wii will probably be connected using composite cables. That leaves...only like, the coaxial input. Need to find something else to hook up to the TV.
Isn't that the euthanasia video from Soylent Green? If so, I would definitely want to see that one in HD.
I have no idea I just know that I was watching saving private ryan two nights ago and I just had a smile from ear to ear on my face. I cant wait for the football games today!
good for you, get hdtv and high resolution gaming plus browsing clutchfans at a decent resolution for all $400. let those CHEAP SKATES who dont 'care' about living in the year 2006, live in 1966. let them connect to clutchfans on their 14.4 modems. let them live like TALIBAN!!
While I'm not quite as passionate as you about uh...yeah... It's nice. The price went up back to 429 today. So I saved 65 bucks, and even 429 is cheap for that set...but cheaper is better.
not even HDDVDs. regular DVDS!! progressive scan or upconverts, they look 100x better and proper on HDTVs. 16:9 if people 'dont care' about what TV looks like then they dont care about what ANYTHING look like! let them buy the ugly ROSS CLEARANCE RACK clothes, and drive DODGE NEONS and have posters of ROSANNE BARR Us HDTVers care! you non-HDTV cheap skaters care about NOTHING!!!
I think somebody's crazy. I don't know if I insert Rolleyes, eek, or big grin, but i know that this post deserves a
