How do you think they gave speeding tickets before the radar gun was invented?

This happened to me when I was in high school. Far more legitimate than an "estimate".

My great-grandad was a cop and a math whiz, so I'll say yeah at least one cop back then was smarter then the ones now adays.

But seriously, police are getting some serious privileges that are starting to scare me. It went from having cops do all sorts of stuff in the Jim Crow era, to not being able to do anything(a little before now), to back to doing whatever they want(now). They ethier get too mcuh power and abuse or not enough and are ineffective.

WON'T SOMEONE SOLVE THIS PROBELM AND JUST FIGURE OUT THE APPROPIATE LEVEL OF POWER THEY NEED TO DO THEIR JOB!!!

If you always expect someone to always solve your problems, you will remain in a perpetual state of mental infancy. You might think that humanity could have figured this out by now.

I tend to err on the spirit of the law rather than the word of the law when there is some conflict between the two. However, in this case, neither the spirit nor the word of the law allows for these arrests.

That is ridiculous. These judges that are upholding these convictions are a joke and should be ashamed. Enact a specific law that allows for these arrests if they are needed, but don't twist and falsely interpret existing law to fit your agenda.

Lifted from another board, but more or less exactly what I have said on this forum over and over again.

I mean really - I have no choice but to not trust any cop and to generally think all of them fantastically corrupt. To a certain extent, they are all complicit in allowing the worst among them to continue unabated.

those only work if they bother to turn them on. cops in austin turned theirs off before shooting nathaniel sanders last year...quite convenient, wasnt it?

we have cameras at red lights, cameras in cop cars, cameras on street corners, body scanners at airports...but the cops cant be taped in public?

this country seems more like the soviet union than the america that i grew up in.

considering that police (and military) have lowered intelligence standards over the years, yes.
