I don't think a vote for someone based on race makes you a racist. Being a racist, to me anyway, means a hate or prejudice towards another race. I don't think a person of color hates white people because they vote for Obama, just as I don't think a white person who votes for Clinton hates black people. While some do probably both cases - I don't think the general vote can be considered rasist.

So the same would hold true for Hillary Clinton. The fact is there has never been a woman President and that's why Clinton being a woman is important to people. It sets a precedent of success just as similarly as white people not voting for Obama because he's black perpetuates the idea that a black man isn't ready to be President. It's not really that she's a woman, it's the history of being a woman in this country.

    Impeach Bush.

This is what gets me about 'typical' Americans.

I defy you to tell me ANYTHING that involves social human activity, where race is NOT a factor.

Race is part of the human condition and affects every single thing we do in life. If you feel that something does not involve race, it's probably because it's too imbalanced and you are part of the majority so you are 'blind' to the racial aspect of it ...which ironically makes it the most racial thing of all and fosters racism.

Race is ALWAYS a factor in everything. It's a factor in where you decide to go shopping, its a factor in where you live and go to school and therefore it is a factor in your everyday behavior.

There is no decision that you make, that involves other people, where race is NOT a factor.

To suggest voters make their selection partly based on race ...is the BIGGEST NO DUH in history. Give me a break and get over yourselves.

People tend to vote for people that look/act like themselves. PERIOD. No more complicated than that. ...and it works both ways. This is not a story. Lets move on.

I had a long post typed out spelling out everything wrong with your post and the inherent message behind it but I think one word will suffice:

    Wow.

Where were you? I don't know you or the guy ...but I'm positive race played a role in the decision for you to be where you were at.

Take my challenge. Give me an example of something and I'll explain it to you. I'll easily demonstrate to you how race plays a subtext in all social interactions.

Just like how rich/poor you are plays a subtext in every aspect of your life, so does race relations. Race has played a role in how entire civilations have developed into what we see today. It is very naive to marginalize the importance.

To highlight the importance of race in our daily lives, individual people vote ...one by one. They make personal decisions. ...and it's been extremely racially charged. Do you think everybody just woke up today thinking about race ...or do you suppose it's been on peoples' mind a while?

This presidential race is shaping a new chapter of American history ...and if he becomes president, it'll shape all of our lives. ...cause presidents always affect our daily lives. ...and so do white presidents.

Need me to make my point any more? Or is that enough?

Just to be clear, this isn't like the Pepsi challenge, is it?

I'll give you my theory on what drives life for us humans... sex. If you look at every human interaction, reaction, pro-action, inaction... you will find sex behind all of it. Go ahead and give me an example of something and I'll explain it to you. :)

I can't disagree with you. Race and sex are BOTH part of the human condition and therefore inseperable subcontexts into anything humans do in history.

    There are probably other examples.

But for anybody sugest "race isn't a factor" or "shouldn't be a factor" in this presidential election is misguided. Race is a factor.

...and to tie in your point, so is sex. Last time I checked ...Clinton is a female, I think. ;) And Bill presidency will forever be defined by what ...ahem, Sex.

Race is not because race is not absolute. Race is BS, and evolving and changing and will eventually be a non factor. It is also impossible to define and VERY subjective (the major contribution is self identity).

You are trying to tag race as a deep rooted human instinct when it is not. Before the technology of the last few thousand years everyone humans saw were all their same race. How was race on the same playing field as sex at that time?

Humans will always have sex, eat, compete etc. It is easy to see how "race" could be eliminated in a few thousand years.

I know i cannot convince this guy otherwise because he seems to have some deep rooted either connection or love or hatred for race believing that it runs destiny on some inner level.

Dude, really? That's the best you got? A few thoughsand years? ...and how is that relevant to today?

Take my challenge. Give me an example of something you feel is not related and I'll prove it to you. Scared?

i already answered and then I gave you a breakdown of why race is not as important as you want it to be.

    Challenge any of my arguments.

I asked you where you were when the guy spilled beer on you. No answer. So lets hear it.

btw, using the arguement that thousands of years from now all humans will look the same is an unbelievably lame position to take.

    1. Give me some legitimate source saying all people will merge into one human.
    2. Even if that were true, how is that relevant to how history has shaped our world today.
    3. Since we are talking about human behavior, how do future trends impact behavior today?

    1. its obvious, look at history, groups meet then merge. Recent history
    introduced east and west.

    2. You are claiming that Race is some innate human base like sex, food, etc. This just is not true. It is a societal issue not a basic one. It does not exist even in many human cultures today.
    3. As I explained this era of mixed races is not as humans were or how we will be.
