With CCP loosening its grip on many aspects of China right now, all hell seems to break loose. This is very much reminiscent of the Donald Rumsfeld's "stuff happens" observation on the looting of Iraq right after the toppling of Saddam. I'd be in shock if this would happen in Mao's era. Not long ago, there was this American dude named Danny Way skateboard-jumped the Great Wall outside Beijing. I can't imagine, considering Chinese taking so much pride in the Great Wall as one of the few man-made wonders in ancient world history, that Indian government would allow a foreigner to do an "elephant walk" on the premises of their Taj Mahal, nor would Egyptian government condone anyone messing with the Pyramids. That said, to suggest that a moronic displaying of Bin Laden in public is tantamount to supporting terrorists is ridiculous.
The owner of the BBQ stand was definately wrong in what he is doing, however this is not something sponsored by the Chinese government. I guess anything to make a buck is alive and well in China today. This brings up a related point about how Chinese feel about putting Japanese war criminals inside holy shrines. What would be the reactions in the US be if Saudi government decides to put Bin Laden's name inside a mosque to be worshiped?
Yet you celebrate George W. Bush, who has killed over ten times the number of Iraqi civilians as the number of American civilians killed by Usama Bin Laden. HYPOCRITE
Oh yeah? I'd be pissed if I were an American who happened to be wandering at the site of the food festival and saw this huge banner of OBL on top of a booth. I'd demand it be taken down and I'd file a protest with the local Chinese government.
The most offensive thing in the picture is the guy in the sleeveless camo shirt with the mullet. Sheeessh!
I think it's photoshoped. If it is indeed true, it's really poor-taste, disgusting and disturbing. On the other hand, does texxx really have to refer that as whole Chinese this and that, China this and that? Looking at them, I could see them are people from Xinjiang (an area believed to be the origin of Turkish people). Most of Chinese in country side and remote areas are not educated or well-informed. The government has little control of them, as long as you don't claim that you are "against communist party". Then again, if it's a hoax, it's very disturbing; if it's real, it's equally disturbing, if not more. Frankly, I don't believe that is the taste of an average Chinese. JMHO.
Or it could be gloves used in steel factory, to protect himself from the heat? guess they don't know who MJ is
So how does it feel now? As an American, I find this distasteful, but you and your brother were the first to say that there was no big deal in desecrating the Quran, something that another culture finds appalling. It just goes to show that different peoples and cultures are offended by different symbols and actions. I know you're going to reply that "there's a difference between a man who killed thousdands and desecrating a book" but that wasn't my point. Be sensitive to all cultures and religions. Hypocrite.
LOL. You have the same mentality as the terrorists. If something offends you then you make a blanket statement about EVERYONE. Terrorists: "**** the Americans, they insult the muslims. Die INFIDELS!!!" Bigtexxx: "**** the Chinese, they insult the americans. Die *********!" I agree that the banner is offensive, but I only blame the people who put up that banner.
Find me the quote where I said it was ok to desecrate the Qu'ran. Your credibility is on the line. If you cannot find it, you are a flat out liar.
The correct translation is:"Don't you dare NOT to eat this kind of BBQ". By the way, I would have worried about it only if the banner were in Tiananmen Square. As for in a local market at some remote area, most locals probably don't know who the hell that guy is. In China, anti-terrorism is not the top agenda for the government, the media, or the average people. At least not yet.
Are you sure?? ( 这样的烤肉敢吃不 ) My Chinese may not be that good, but I believe this means do you dare to eat this BBQ.
It didnt take me but 5 seconds to find this quote from you and I didn't even finish scanning over that thread. I'm sure there's more, but I don't care enough. You and your brother have illustrated your stance enough on things. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=96436&page=1&pp=30&highlight=book I guess you forgot about that, eh tex? So you basically generalized the entire arab culture as being "400-500 years behind the rest of the world" because of their anger over desecration to their holy book. Do as I say, not as I do, I guess. I will be awaiting your attempt at a reply. Thanks in advance.
