They barely make any profit? I guess the only people who profit off of this is the retailers? Bullshii.... Dasani in China is .90 rmb = 12 cents.
It is good for you and it is just simple acid base chemistry. The fluoride ion acts as a base which lowers the acidity (higher pH) of the liquids in their mouth, reducing tooth decay/cavities/etc.
It's true. Your best bet is to go out and buy Nalgene bottles. They do not degrade like the regular plastic in bottled water because they are made from a different type of polymer. You can get them for 5 or 6 bucks, but they are well worth it.
Couldn't agree with you more. The biggest selling point of bottled water is convenience which dupes the consumer into believing the product is actually worth over a dollar. People don't realize how much they spend on bottled water. If they actually went out and bottled their own water (then pour it in a Nalgene bottle) or even installed a filter on their tap, they could save close to 800-1000 dollars over the course of a year which could yield a nice little vacation. People getting outraged over this announcement by Pepsi really shows you how little they know about bottled water.
Well like someone else mentioned, how many times do you have to reuse a bottle before it becomes harmful? A few times a day? Two days? A week? I've used one up to 2 or 3 days at a time because I'm at work and forgot to bring in my usual cup.
Well, I can't really say because it depends. As soon as you open up your bottle, you are allowing the entry of germs and fungi (it's not as bad as it sounds, but there are germs everywhere) into your bottle. Because the tip of plastic water bottles are extremely narrow, most people probably just give the bottle a good rinse before refilling it. This does not allow for proper cleaning. Leaving a water bottle with the tip on overnight can obviously allow whatever germs inside to multiply. The main issue really isn't plastic degradation. It is the bacteria that can grow in a water bottle overnight. Most people leave their caps on, which allows for no air circulation and is a perfect breeding ground for these organism. Your best bet is to get a Nalgene bottle which does not degrade and can be easily cleaning with soap.
from what i read once ( i guess i will try to read up on it more) is that the plastic OVER TIME does degrade to the point where it breaks down. not saying im right but it is what i read.
Correct, plastic does break down over time, but I am not sure what the rate of degradation is because that depends on lots of factors. The immediate concern here is bacterial growth, but the plastic breaking down is a secondary issue.
Possibly b/c little kids stick gum into the water fountain spigot maybe? Also some people spit back water into the thing, and it could hit the spigot. Public water fountains at most places just seem dirty to me.
Man, A lot of you guys are picky about your water. As long as it is clear water, and not in Mexico/Third World, I'll drink it.
i knew it taste a little different.. i usually leave bottled water in the car and when u drink aquafina while its hot it taste different from other water.. ozarka too
I bought one of those PUR water filters for my faucet today. This model is on sale at Target for $19.89. The regular price is around $39.
That's the kind I have... it works fine. But I hate that it automatically shuts itself off when it's time to replace the filter. My cheap ass would use the same filter for 2 decades as long as the water tasted ok.
