Like last year when LeBron averaged 38 points in their playoff series when the Magic really shut him down, right? To say LeBron doesn't have his way with the Magic is just plain ignorant. Maybe the Magic would beat them in a series again, but it won't be because LeBron isn't dominant. Like last year, it will come down to LeBron's supporting cast.
I don't really like the field goal in football either. Baseball is just the same way the rest of the game is played, which is how it should be, IMO. I'm not sure how they should handle it. Maybe the game should just keep going until one team has a 4+ point lead... but then again that would result in teams down by 5-7 points getting into the foul game. I don't know. Guess I'll have to think about how it could be done better.
Okay, here's a thought. How about if fouls in the last two minutes result in one free throw plus the ball, instead of two free throws? The only problem with this is that when you get down to a situation where a team has the ball and the lead with under 24 seconds remaining, they've pretty much won the game and that's that. I'm not sure that's really a bad thing, though, it's just different. And at least you have to play basketball right up until the end, instead of just shooting a bunch of free throws.
It's not like LeBron has a poor supporting cast. It's more the one-man-dominating offense they run that hurts them. They need to get rid of their JVG and hire their own Rick Adelman. Phil Jackson may be available next season. I feel in this system the Cavs runs Mo and West are underutilized. They're more than spot-up shooters. Both could be facilitators and their offense could be harder to predict when LeBron doesn't go into iso on every single possession.
You're asking to change the tradition of the game... something that has been around for a long time... It's a nice proposition, but it will never happen and it shouldn't.
What amazes me, is that LBJ scored 42 points without really making a jumpshot (he made 1 jumper the entire game and was 0/9 from long range). Usually guys are on fire when they score 40+ points and LeBron really had no jumpshot. It tells you how scary good he is. He can easily score 40+ while only getting layups. Amazing.
The Lakers are not looking impressive at all. Don't be surprised if they don't come out of the West this year.
I hope Morey seriously goes after him in the offseason! Imagine Manu and Scola on the same team! Git R' Done Morey!
How about Kobe. Last game 5/23 and 4/16 tonight. It gives you 23% shooting and he really looks out of any rythm.
Traditions change. Rules change. It wasn't until the sport had been played for decades that they added the three-point shot. Does anybody actually get excited watching guys shoot free throws, one of the easiest game-critical actions in any sport?
