    Nobody is seriously advocating the abolition of all fossil fuel usage startig tomorrow - so that is a bit of a red herring made of straw that MM is using there.

    I'm not suggesting you're saying that. I wasn't creating a strawman. I'm suggesting if increasing supply by extracting oil here can help us in the meantime while we develop alternatives, then I think that is a good thing.

    I think Hofmeister gets it. There's a serious problem, and the last thing his industry wants is a mob driven government doing something about it and actively interfering. However, I don't agree too much in his views on alternative energy viability.

    This is probably neither here nor there, but the Hofmeister interview on the first page was somewhat of a swan song. His scheduled retirement was the following day.
