You just a blind fanboy. Stop pretending that you're going to switch to Android BS when we all know you'll buy an Apple product even if Android is better.
You are again making incorrect assumptions. I didn't say Android benefited from Google's name. It benefits from being backed by Google. Most people buying phones don't even know Android comes from Google. Google has the heft and money to maximize Android's long-term potential. Regarding the iPod, nobody put forth anything as compelling an alternative as what Android is becoming for mobile phones. On exclusionary practices, I think there are a good many people who are choosing Android because it does NOT exclude Flash. If you disagree, fine. Going forward, this may become significant. To my original point, Apple excluding other U.S. carriers besides AT&T will kill them. Android will force Apple into the arms of Verizon. Lastly, in the coming years battle for market share, you think having fewer choices is an advantage for Apple and Android having more choices is a disadvantage. I cannot agree even though I understand your points completely. Remember your key phrase, "right now". Things will likely be a lot different in 12 months and I'm willing to bet that, relative to the iPhone, Android will progress quite a lot more. In this battle, time is on Android's side more than Apple's.
With my contract for the iPhone expiring in July, I'm tempted to wait for a Windows Phone 7 phone which will be at the end of the year. I really want to see what kind of app support it has. Apple is playing catchup in the hardware now, but the apps are what's keeping it at the top. That being said, so many of the apps are pretty much garbage. I'm also open to switching to an Android phone. Does anybody know if there is a way to search to see what apps are available on Android without actually having an Android-based phone?
This is the best thing there is on the Web http://www.cyrket.com/m/android/ interface is not the best, though. The Android Market is nearly equal with the App Store in everything except for games, I would say.
Do you know what will probably stop me? The size of the screen. It's great that it will apparently be at a much higher resolution, but those of us past a certain age frequently find it hard to read the tiny print. Also, count me as another guy who hates that Flash isn't supported by Apple. I want everything supported that I desire to look at!
Point. But you're assuming Android has long-term potential. Google is also in the business of making money, and as iPhone adoption increases (as it's bound to do with the release of the new phone and with Steve Jobs' ego driving the wagon), it will become more and more difficult for Android to gain market share, and thus, maintain profitability. SanDisk would disagree with you. They put forth a heckuva product, but they still lost the war. Because it's not all about the features. No, I don't! I'd venture to say that many, if not most of the people choosing Android do so because of Flash support. I agree 100%. What I'm saying is that number is still a very small minority of mobile phone users and isn't likely to change any time soon. I mean, if the iPhone users were really bugged by the lack of Flash, they would have jumped ship three years ago. After all, it's been missing all this time. But they haven't: they been growing in number. Again, it's not all about the features. That is the one argument against the iPhone that I think holds some weight. AT&T sux. Big time. But, again, if that really was a deal-breaker, iPhone adoption would be on the decline. But instead, the numbers look like this... Q3 2007 : 270,000 Q4 2007 : 1,120,000 Q1 2008 : 2,300,000 Q2 2008 : 1,700,000 Q3 2008 : 717,000 Q4 2008 : 6,890,000 Q1 2009 : 4,400,000 Q2 2009 : 3,790,000 Q3 2009 : 5,200,000 Q4 2009 : 7,400,000 Q1 2010 : 8,700,000 source Not so much "fewer choices". More like a "simplified product line". I think if Android wants to really make a dent in the iPhone giant, they need to streamline their product line. This is Apple vs. Microsoft all over again. Apple wants to sell the hardware while Microsoft (now Android) wants to sell the software. The difference is that, with cell phones, the average person views the hardware and software as one item, and Apple wins in that regard. I guess we'll see. At the very least, thanks for being able to talk about it without all the fanboy nonsense.
doesn't the evo have a 1ghz snapdragon processor? The Apple A4 which is on the iPad and is probably going to be on the new iPhone is also 1Ghz
Yeah same processor speed. This just came out by the way as far as market share goes. http://www.appleinsider.com/article...e_three_times_greater_than_android_in_us.html 3X greater than the Android in the U.S.
why does it matter really? some people prefer iphone and others will prefer android. both are solid OS and have similar app markets. each person will be biase towards either side and no point in persuading other people to like what you like. it's like the ps3 vs xbox 360 discussion. get all of them like me, ps3, xbox 360, wii, android, apple
I still find that on a mobile device I don't really miss Flash much. I mean, we are just now getting a full fledged mobile Flash client. I don't think all the iPhone and Android users have really been struggling that mightily up till now. Agree about the screen, though. I think the HD2's screen, for example, is very impressive.
Once you use the hd2 the iphone screen looks like a toy. If not for wm the hd2 would have been the best phone ever. I guess that is what the evo will be.
Why are you baiting me to try something? You obviously hate Apple... I said I was going to wait until the announcement before I made a decision... I don't know what your problem is but you did the same thing last year and you never learn.
Honestly, I plan on sticking with an iPhone because I also use it as my primary media player, and its player's UI is far better than the Android phones that I've tried. I'll wait to see AT&T's Android offerings later this month, though. I'm still using my iPhone 2G and I love it, but I'm at the point where I need 3G for Pandora
You're making too much sense. For some reason people act like 12 yr olds when it comes to this stuff. If it says Apple in the title you know cowboy_bebop will show up just to complain. It's why I rarely check out tech forums.
