Tethering is also coming from AT&T.. A WHOLE YEAR LATER... http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/...-changes-to-data-plans-iphone-tethering-comi/ I remember when they announced Tethering and MMS last summer.... I'm fed up with AT&T and their antics.
Gizmodo has some probability predictions about WWDC which happens next Tuesday... That Verizon iPhone is looking more and more like it's not gonna happen, but we shall see. Spoiler http://gizmodo.com/5553902/wwdc-here-comes-the-new-iphone-but-what-else?skyline=true&s=i
Verizon doesn't even need the iPhone, the Droid Incredible surpasses the 3GS in every way, and I don't see how the iPhone 4 can improve so much that it is leaps and bounds above it.
Not in terms of sales... and it won't even come close. Most people don't believe that obviously... and that's why having an iPhone with Verizon would not only attract a lot of new customers, but significantly boost their revenue.
verizon doesn't care about fanboy bickering and opinions, only money. And getting the iPhone would bring them a ****load of it.
I think it's getting close to the point that the iPhone needs Verizon more than vice versa. The way both Android phones and Android itself have improved over the last 12 months will force Steve Jobs' hand. In the next 12 months, Android will continue steadily improving and gaining share from Apple.
I disagree. Everywhere I go, everywhere I look, it seems that most people under 40 have an iPhone. It's gotten so that I double-take when I see a non-iPhone. In short, it's dominating the casual market. I hope that the droid is a good competitor for the iPhone. But right now, I don't see enough upside to it to switch from an iPhone. I would, believe me. I don't have any blind loyalty to Apple.
I got the iphone when it first came out. Now that every single person seems to have one makes it less appealing.
I don't think they're in trouble right now... it'll take Android a couple of years... but I do agree that eventually, Apple will need to expand to other carriers in order to compete with Android down the road.
I don't get why people feel like this. Not just with iphones either but people act like its wrong when more than one person has something they have. I mean, its a phone being sold all over the world. Of course you're going to see many more people with the same thing. Especially if its good.
I think it has to do with you being labeled in a group of people that has a certain thing. When things are low-key and people have them, the exclusivity of the thing goes up. That's my guess at least...
Apple also might be releasing Safari 5 with Bing and HTML support at WWDC. I would expect that new line of Mac's to come soon though. A big ass 30" screen would be nice.
Nope. You're making the fallacious assumption that the better product wins out. History has shown that's not the case. Beta was better quality than VHS, but VHS won. The more adopted product is the one that wins out, and Apple isn't anywhere even close to losing their lead in that regard. Quite the opposite: when the new iPhone is released, 99% of the current iPhone owners will re-up, plus they'll gain a bunch of new converts. It's not blind Apple loyalty: it's industry standardization It's the same thing Apple did with the iPod. Their product isn't the best (there are other, cheaper, more functional mp3 players out there), but it's the one with the most accessories (both Apple and third-party), the most cross-platform support, etc. Better isn't always better.
I'm not sure why, but I find myself a lot more excited about the possibilities of the 4th gen iPhone than I was about the 3GS. I really think that Apple's going to respond big time to the onslaught of great Andriod and WinMobile phones that are coming out.
Clearly. The 3GS IMO was just an extension to the 3G. They did some hardware upgrade... made it faster, added video. But with this 4G, I think the whole design change, the front facing camera, and the possibility of HD recording along with the new OS 4 will be a huge upgrade from OS 3. It will be like when the 3G came out after the first gen iPhone... the hardware changes, a new design, and a new OS that has big and significant changes. I'm not sure we're going to be blown out of the water at this point though because of the leaks... I can't see anything the leaks missed that Apple will announce in a couple of days, UNLESS those leaks weren't the final product.
Was there ever any definitive reason given as to why an FM transmitter with HD radio capability wouldn't be included? I have to believe that if it has the ability to capture HD video, it's going to have a pretty significant hardware upgrade.
Well see... nobody knows if it does yet. Sure, it's a bigger camera than the 3GS which is giving out the rumors that it's possible to record 720p video, but I can't believe it until I hear it. I think a while back, somebody asked about the FM transmitter thing.. when the 3G was out. My guess is that they either have a deal with 3rd party producers or that they want to promote internet radio.
