I wouldn't be able to download OS4 and update my phone with it if 4.0.1 is out.. that's my whole point. In order to downgrade/restore/upgrade, apple has to sign the firmware you're installing and they stop signing the old firmware once an update is out. In other words, as soon as 4.0.1 hits iTunes, I won't be able to restore my phone to 4.0 software.

The only reason people are able to downgrade their software currently is because they saved their SHSHs on Cydia's server (I currently have 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 saved). I'm going to hope/assume that the new JB will also JB the update that comes along with it, as I can't see Apple making major changes to a firmware/baseband that the public isn't JB'ing.

Nah if you do it within 24 hours... it works, I believe. You can also do the SHSH too... like you said.

    Something along the lines of..

"We have done some extensive research into the complaints we have been getting on the recent Iphone. We have concluded that there was a "Batch" of phones that were manufactured with a defected material from China... We are in the process of replacing those defected models as soon as possible. We are ensuring that are future suppliers adhere to Apples standard as to not have this happen again.. On top of the confusion this has caused we will offer 5 free itune downloads."

    Meaning just total BS

Do I still get the free songs if I've had zero problems with my phone?

4.0.1 was released today and 3.2.1 for iPad.

nothing huge other than the bars on the amount of reception fix.

I'd also like to see how Jobs/Apple get out of this antenna mess.

Need help from you iPhone experts here.

As I mentioned earlier, I now have an unlocked (T Mobile), jailbroken 3G iPhone that had been upgraded to 4.0. It's buggy and runs apps and everything very slow. I've been told from other iphone users it's because of the 4.0.

One of them said I should go back to 3.1.1 and gave me a link to the tutorial:

    http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/downgrade_iphone_os_40

My questions, I'm assuming once I do that my phone will no longer be jail broken OR unlocked for T Mobile? It's the unlocked part that concerns me most. A friend of a friend did the unlocking and didn't seem to think I could do it (or maybe he just doesn't want to help again).

Anyway, am I in store for a major pain in the ass?

Do you have multitasking and the ability to change your home background enabled?

If you do, rejailbreak the phone and do not install the home background feature. I originally did both with my 3g, and it was ridiculously slow. But after taking away the background feature, it runs just as fast as it did on 3.1.2 AND I have multitasking enabled.

Are there any other browsers you can use with the iPhone besides Safari?

I believe it is on. The background is water drops. I didn't jailbreak it so I really don't know what I'm doing. It has cydia installed.

Opera Mini is also available on the store.

There's another browser too but the name escapes me. It wasn't free though.

I think AVRCP support is pretty significant.

Yeah, that means its enabled. Here's the way to rejailbreak it.

    1. Download the iOS4 firmware for 3g: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...100621,Vfgb5/iPhone3,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw

    2. Download Redsn0w: Windows version: http://rapidshare.com/files/403936027/redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-5.zip.html

    Mac Version: http://rapidshare.com/files/403935139/redsn0w_mac_0.9.5b5-5.zip.html

    3. Plug in your iPhone to your computer, and turn it off after being plugged in.

    4. Run Redsnow. It will ask you to browse for the firmware. Point it to the iOS4 firmware you downloaded in step 1.

    5. On the next screen it will ask you to choose which options. DISABLE Install Cydia as well as the Homescreen Wallpaper feature. So the only ones you should have checked are Multitasking, and battery percentage.

    6. Then follow instructions on the program and it will rejailbreak your phone. Hopefully it should run at a good speed after that.

Doing all of this won't affect the phone being unlocked for T mobile?

No, it won't relock your phone. But even if it goes, you can unlock it through Cydia. Reply back here if it goes and I'll show how to unlock it. But you won't have to.
