does anyone know if facetime has been hacked yet? I havent been able to try it out since I dont know anyone else personally with an iPhone 4. I was wondering if people had figured out how to call and chat with webcams or something. That would have been most logical...

That's a darn good question. My wife and I used facetime while she was visiting family in another state. Cool feature.

Would not recommend jailbreaking your iPhone.

    Why Apple is evil.

Sounds like bull****, but who knows. iPhones have never prompted for updates outside of iTunes. And if they were going to start, that probably would be something they would hype as a 'feature'.

woudnt that be a pain anyways? i dont think i'd want getting update messages sent to me while out and about. let users decide when they wanna sit down and update through itunes. besides doesnt updating take a long time on the iphone? i know updating a BB can be upwards to like 20 min to update to a new OS

I think most of the world is waiting for Incase's slider to come out.

Switcheasy has one called the nude which is supposed to be good. They make quality stuff.

The reception issues are gaining more momentum after Consumer Reports put out an article about it and tested it against other AT&T phones. They went as far as to say they will not recommend this phone until Apple comes out with a FREE fix to the solution.

    Question about unlocked iphone.

My wife's brother gave her an iphone 3. She wants to unlock it and use it on our TMobile.

What won't it do being on a non-ATT carrier?

It won't do a 3g connection, visual voicemail, and it is iffy with anything push based.

Not true with the push stuff anymore. Theres a way to get yourself a legitimate certificate for free through Cydia.

No... not yet. They can't jailbreak a software until it's been released.

If 4.0 is not jailbroken when they release 4.0.1, why would Apple go to the trouble of updating basebands or putting in more roadblocks for JB'ers? I would think they wouldn't change their configuration until it is figured out and given to the public.

The issue is I have 3.1.3.. but if they're not going to release the JB for 4.0 until 4.0.1 is out, how would I update to 4.0 and JB? Apple would no longer be signing the 4.0 firmware if 4.0.1 is out. I would have to find out the release date of 4.0.1 and update the day or whatever before in order to be able to JB.. seems like a huge hassle, especially considering I'm currently overseas on an unlocked iPhone 3.1.3.

I wanted to start a thread but I will ask in here:

    1. What are the best free apps out there?

    2. What are some apps worth paying for?

Only for the phones with an old bootrom. I have a 3Gs that I would be unable to JB if I upgraded to 4.0 right now, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I also used Spirit. Ha.

I honestly don't know why it works that way, but since Apple has been locking up the restore feature to downgrade from OS to OS, they've been doing this method. You can always down i OS 4 from the internet.... so you don't have to necessarily update from iTunes.
