hmmm...not having an iphone, its tough to say how much i might use. damn...might have to think re think if im gonna get an iphone now or not.
Like I said, I'm not the norm. Even my other friends who have iPhone's say they do not use their iPhone's as much as I use mine. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Go with the 2 gb plan if you plan to really use the internet (especially if you wanna use Google Maps). If you CAN wait, wait for this fall/winter. Windows Phone 7 series is going to be a game changer. I'm not saying go with a Windows Phone, but the competition of a Windows Phone could make Apple's pricing plan more attractive. That and I can't wait to see what is in store for Android...
i mean, i'd prob do minimum browsing, but i'm more worried about music and videos on youtube, that and games, which i think you can play each other over the net. again no idea how often i'd be doing such, but sounds shaky
Like I said you're probably fine. Check this out if you're concerned: http://gizmodo.com/5555921/how-much-video-can-you-actually-stream-with-atts-new-data-plans
Oh, and to be fair no matter what plan you sign up with (regardless of carriers) you will hit this wall. Most carriers say they have unlimited plans, but if you read the fine print they have massive data caps. AT&T is not special in this regard...
I think I posted this in this thread, but I've used over 100mb about once in the last 6 months or something alone those lines. I use the internet fairly often, but wifi is just so common place now that I rarely dip into the 3g unless I just have to look up something on the road. I guess google maps is tapping most of the 3g usage. Pretty close to everybody is going to be more than fine with 2gb limits, but I'll keep my unlimited should I switch to the new.
Well your "unlimited" actually has a 3-5gb cap depending on the exact terms of your contract. My unlimited plan has a 3gb cap, read the fine print of your contract. That's why when AT&T said there was gonna be a 2gb cap, I thought to myself this isn't much of a change I don't see why most people are in such an outrage...
you live in houston? wifi isnt all that common where i'm at, the only places i know who have wifi, are BW3's and mcdonalds, maybe starbucks, but i dont really go to either of those 3 places often. there is a way to get texts sent to you when you are about to reach your limit right? i guess i could make sure those are sent to me to make sure, and that way i'll see how much i'm using and be able to gauge from there. hell i might not even use enough to stress about it. never used an iphone. for instance the mlb at bat app gives you a free game daily to watch, i would imagine that would take quite a bit of data to watch a 3 hr baseball game...that is if you arent using wifi then again, if what pizza is saying is correct, and there were caps already, than maybe its not a big deal, otherwise there would be huge outrage over people being capped when they thought they had unlimited all this time
Flyer, Ive had the iphone for years...I am probably average with my usage and I go around 300-500 mb a month. Once you are talking about 2GB...then you really have to be working towards going over that limit. If Im web browsing that much, then I feel like Im better off just using my computer at home.
For Windows users who currently want to jailbreak their iPhone 3Gs with the 4.0 software, sn0wbreeze 1.7 was released last night for the new bootrom. You cannot jailbreak your iPhone however if you have not had it jailbroken since 3.1.2. http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-iphone-3gs-ios-4-new-bootrom-with-sn0wbreeze/ You can also unlock the phone by going to Cydia. You would go to www.ultrasn0w.com and follow the instructions there... that's pretty easy. For iPhone 4 users with iOS 4, the new jailbreak is done but has not been released. It's likely to release as soon as 4.0.1 software comes out sometime in this week or next week. http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak...s-new-bootrom-ipod-touch-3g-release-imminent/ Should be nice. And unlocking is also on the way and should be done pretty soon for the iPhone 4. http://www.redmondpie.com/unlock-iphone-4-one-step-closer-video/ Cheers.
Not true. Last night I upgraded an old 3G to IOS4 and then jailbroke it. It's never been jailbroken before.
jailbreaking opens the phone up to use other software, like the custom app stores outside of the official apple one. I believe you have to jailbreak in order to unlock. Unlock allows you to use the phone with other carriers besides AT&T.
For those who jailbroke their 3g for iOS4, and are experiencing a really slow phone, re jailbreak it, but this time don't include the background wallpaper feature. My 3g with multitasking only is running like it did on 3.1.2
I seriously hope you're banned from Clutchfans.... you can't speak english for ****, you love to troll, and you really suck at life. You're a pathetic POS.
