you have to put your phone in recovery mode, not dfu mode. Also, you gotta be jailbroken on firmware 3.1.2 via blackrain (not spirit). You cant be on 3.1.3 non jailbroken and jailbreak ios4
Thanks for the tip, but I have no idea what any of that means. This phone was never previously jailbroken (I have a contract with AT&T, but just got the iPhone 4, so I'm selling this 3GS). I tried it in recovery mode, but got the same error. I may just sell it to the guy anyways..he can figure out how to unlock it himself...it's not like he needs my SIM card/personal info, right?
I think it's silly that they couldn't get this right. I could understand whether it's just a buggy phone where a simple software would do the trick, but this sounds more like a hardware problem and it's pretty stupid. Yeah a case will fix the problem, but isn't the point of buying the damn phone that you are able to get a good product without having to make special accommodations for it? I think if I don't want my damn phone on a case then I should have that privilege to not have to put it in a case. I'm just saying though, I don't really have any personal agenda against apple like many seem to have on these message boards.
I recommend you go find the IOS 4 GM firmware version to do a restore/upadte and jailbreak that. Don't even bother with the IOS 4 that you restore from itunes at release date.
Maybe Steve Jobs should man up and paid Nokia for their patent infringement so that they could use their antenna.
Maybe people don't want to buy a ****ing case and be a ****ing tool like you and want a real solution. If they don't want people to b**** then give them the case for free since it's obvious they knew there were going to be problems that's why they came up with that case.

Used Facetalk for the first time last night. Pretty much what you'd expect- video chat. Nothing HD, but pretty much flawless. It's stupid that you can't use it via 3G....a legit reason to Jailbreak.

Free case only at apple stores? I couldn't get one Thursday (didn't try too hard) will try this week though at an AT&T or apple stores. I need to roll back my OS4 to OS3 on my 3G this phone is horrid to use now so slow
Oh really mr. hypocrite? Since you don't have the problem so what do you even have to do with this also? Since if you say you don't have the problem and while others does. Why are you telling them what or how they should do with their phone? Maybe you should go check other sites where those who does have this problem and want a real solution fix and not and not masking it with a bumper case. If you want to be a tool so be it.
