Most people put their iPhones in cases anyways, thus alleviating the issue. I was pretty pissed when I discovered it at first, but then when I got the bumper and the issue went away I decided to go on with my life. I had no intention of carrying around without it being in a case anyways. Having said all that....anyone that has aspirations of being in Public Relations for a living should study this situation very closely.
With or without the case, I havent had any issues with reception or getting dropped calls. Even if it shows 1 bar, I havent had any problems. I think the issue is overrated...kinda like how people say Modern Warfare 2 is the worst video game ever.
Yeah this is pretty much it. Most people are nitpicking this issue to the max... just buy a ****ing case and enjoy the phone.
In truth, though I criticize this kind of thing, this is PREFERRED for me. My kind of purchasing way depends on people buying up items at launch, then me getting the less buggy version later for less So YAY to all early adopters. (We need this kind of turnout for electric vehicles)
Same here. Have seen the bars fluctuate, but so far with three days of use it hasn't really stopped me from doing anything. I think there are a lot of factors involved at this point; signal fluctuating, some people get worse reception depending where they are, some models of phone maybe worse than others, and of course AT&T's already iffy network getting hammered by all these new phones. Certainly, there are some who it seems to be REALLY affecting and for sure they will need a fix worse than others. Either way, I'm interested in seeing how it all pans out.
not eligible for upgrade till 2/11. anyways i hope (and they probably will) apple release another iphone next summer (4gs?? ).
4.0.1 rumored to come out on Monday to fix reception issues. http://gizmodo.com/5573284/rumor-ios-401-update-coming-on-monday-will-fix-reception-problems

The thing is, you shouldn't have to buy a ****ing case. We're not talking about any ol cellphone, this is the iPhone. You spend all that money for a good phone so it should not need a case just to get better reception. And you definitely shouldn't have to hold it in a unconventional way just to get better signal. Its suppose to be one of the best, if not the best phone out there. So to have problems like this is not a good look at all. People have the right to be mad. This is an embarrassing issue.
Wow are a stupid little fanboy. This is either a design or software problem on Apple's end and you telling people to go spend more money to fix it? Stop being a stupid typical fanboy and except that fact that Apple have screw up and need to man up and stop telling people they are holding it wrong or go buy a case to fix it.
Apparently this is pretty simple antenna physics, so you HAVE to think that Apple knew about this beforehand. There's no way something so simple/obvious would get through demo testing unnoticed. It's really a trade off, there's no other way to make the antenna better, and the iPhone badly needed better reception with AT&T's crap network, but it would've been nice for Jobs to at least mention how the new antenna will function in his keynote. I don't think that having to hold the phone without covering the "gap" is a big deal, and I don't think that buying a case is a big deal either since most people do it anyway, however, the fact that they probably purposefully neglected to tell anyone that is going to be necessary is really poor business practice imo.
Well, I guess it's on now. Look, he's not being a "fanboy"....he's basically stating that for those who've bought the phone and planned on putting it in a case anyways, to just do so and go on about your life. Maybe you need to take your nerd-rage and find a "BluRay vs. HD-DVD" forum somewhere. Frankly, all this "fan-boy" crap is getting really old.
Ok if not fanboy then I'll call them idiots. So now you expect people to except the problem and force them to buy a case to fix it even if they don't want to put a case on their phone?
Another thing is that if you don't want to be label a "fanboy" don't be a freaking arrogant prick when it come to your product that you own. Just like a typical arrogant respond from Steve Jobs telling people they are holding it wrong. A simple proper answer would be to tell people to wait there should be a solution or fix coming for it instead of arrogantly telling people to go buy a ****ing a case.
You cannot be that obtuse.... No one is being "forced" to buy a case. Plenty of people, including myself, had no issues with the phone before buying any case. Did I have the antenna issue? Yes. I chose to buy a case because I've had a case on every iPhone I've ever had. The bottom line is that if you didn't shell out your own money to buy the phone, why are you even complaining? I think it's been previously made abundantly clear to you that this thread is about discussing the WWDC, specifically the new iPhone. Instead, you are bound and determined to waste everyone's time with your "fanboy this" and "fanboy that". How about you let people that choose to own iPhones celebrate the technology that THEY'VE paid for. I believe if they needed your advocacy one way or the other, they'd ask for it.
The one who's being obtuse here is you just wasted my time with that useless rant. Hypocrite/contradict much?
Maybe this is just a marketing stradegy. They will will release iphone 4+ with a redesigned antenna, and all the people will cheer at jobs and wait another 6 hours to get their iphone4+ they can hold normally/
He was right on the money. You're a joke man. You are a fanboy against apple. Same blind thinking. Only opposite.
Maybe to a Apple fanboys who see it that way. I wonder why I own a couple of Apple products. Just because you own a product doesn't mean you have to worship it. If you can't handle the truth, stay the f out. If you want just positive rants for the iPhone, why not head over to a Apple forums.
