Holy crap. The "connecting both antennas" with your hands touching either side of the phone is worrisome. Somebody at Apple screwed up bigtime, how could that make it through testing?!
I installed the new OS on my 3G a couple of days ago. It took around 2-3 hours to backup and install the thing. I decided to just go to sleep while it was doing it. I think that was a mistake. lol. The phone is sluggish now. IHeartRadio seems to crap out when alerts go off in the background (like CNBC alerts). I shut all of my alerts off and IHeartRadio still sometimes stutters and crashes. When it crashes, my entire phone just goes black and locks up requiring a "2-button hard reboot".
You are not alone. My 3G is slower than a dog turd covered in molasses rolling up hill now that I've upgraded to iOS4.
Sweet! We're both rockin' iTurds! I hadn't planned on buying the new iPhone since none of the new features moved me enough to get it, but this may allow me to jump on the Android bandwagon. Arrgghhh... wanted to wait until the end of the year for the Windows phones!
Yeah my 3G is running slow too. Did you guys jailbreak and enable multitasking? Im pegging the slow down to that.
After the update...I'd rather have a cell phone from 1988 than the 3G...this thing is frustratingly slow. In 12 hours, I'll have the new iPhone, so just have to tolerate it a little longer.
It makes you wonder why they even made it available for the 3G. I guess I might go back down to 3.1.3, but I really wanted the unified Inbox plus multiple Exchange accounts. Multitasking if whatever to me, as you could do it if you're JB
Yea, I wouldn't have put it on a 3G. I hope you guys did the 'restore' and update though, instead of just a regular update. More like a fresh install. And holy crap is the new iPhone fast. Edit: I do have the antenna issue though BTW, though not as extreme as the video. About to test how it effects calls/data.
4.0 makes me feel like my 3g is crapping out but I know it was working fine before I installed it. If I go back to the previous version, can I still jailbreak/unlock it? The battery drained at least a quarter charge while I was asleep, are you kidding me?
Yeah, this is probably why multitasking isn't made available by default for the 3G. That would've been the feature I would've liked the most on the 3G, even in a bastardized form.
Regarding the yellowing of the screens and the losing bars when holding the phone : http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/23/poll-is-your-iphone-4-retina-display-seeing-yellow-spots/
Yeah, it is so far just some weird glitch for me. Even with the bars dropping it doesn't effect my data or calls at all.
Same here....sometimes I can duplicate the antenna issue...sometimes not. Hasn't dropped any calls. No sign of any yellow spots. Weren't there some reports of 3GS's having that same yellow spot issue when they first came out? On a side note...it does seem a little fishy that there are NO accessories available by 3rd party vendors yet. All you can get is the Apple bumper, which should pretty much alleviate having to touch the sides of the phone with your fingers. Was able to get the Zagg Shield installed at Baybrook this evening. They have plenty of 4G shields in stock. I had one on my 3GS and loved it. Do yourself a favor though, have it installed at the kiosk.
