So for those that have an iPhone 4 reserved at the apple store; what time do you start lining up at the mall? What time do the mall doors open? I have mine reserved at willowbrook.
You won't get it on the 23rd. It'll be on the 24th regardless of what it says right now on Fedex. Yeah sometime today.. most likely by Noon PST. I don't have it reserved, but I know a friend that will be starting at 7 am. Not exactly sure when it the Apple Store opens.
I don't know about "maximum cash value," but I'm planning on doing exactly the same thing, and I'm not jailbreaking mine. The iPhones have terrific resale value as-is, locked. When the 3GS came out, I sold my 3G for $300, locked. Since I only paid $300 for the 3GS, I literally didn't spend a nickel on the upgrade. I'm betting that the 3GS will fetch $300, too. Hoping to upgrade for effectively free (with only "cost" being another 2 year extension with AT&T.)
I'll take that bet. The used market is about to be FLOODED with these things. I doubt you will get more than half of that.
Reports have come out with some people having a 23rd day, but it has been reported by Gizmodo and Engadget that Apple will be issuing a memo to Fedex this week before the 24th saying not to ship any iPhones to households until the 24th. Apple did something similar with the iPads earlier this year where everyone got their iPad on launch. You'll definitely get at least $300 for a locked. Unlocking isn't that hard if you have the right baseband and it may land you another $100. Also anyone going to BB on Launch can expect 20-70 iPhones per store. http://gizmodo.com/5568602/best-buy-iphone-4-launch-inventories-20+70-per-store
It's a darn shame that we can't have a fiasco IN our favor. Getting the new phone a day early?!?! Oh noes!
Anyone able to upgrade their 3GS to iOS4?? I thought it was supposed to be available today. (I did upgrade iTunes and click check for updates today as well ... am I missing something?)
Apple has not specified what time it will be releasing iOS 4, but if last year's 3.0 release is anything to go by, expect the new operating system to hit the tubes sometime after 1PM Eastern/10AM Pacific. Patience is also a must, as there are millions of devices eligible for the free upgrade, and there will be a lot of pressure of Apple's servers.
This is what I want to know as well. I want to see both in person before pulling the trigger and getting one. The white iPhone4 didnt look too bad in the pictures.
I'm not really sure why unlocked/jailbroken phones sell for more. You'd think the people could just do it themselves. I plan on selling mine locked on craigslist, like-new, in-box... straight cash, homie.
It's a shame. I actually got excited when I got my shipment notification last night and checked the tracking number. Damn you, Apple.
Yikes...there are some pretty heated discussions going on on the various Mac forums on this very subject. Apparently quite a few folks got tracking info from FedEx claiming their phones would arrive on the 23rd by 10:30. I guess there are a few people who are a little anxious about getting their new phone.
Got mine updated as well. LOVE the folders...sorely needed that one. Safari also seems to load pages a bit faster. I was also surprised at how fast the update installed.
I don't get that either. Can't the buyers just unlock it themselves? Why pay an extra $100 to have it done for you?
