So you don't need the unlimited texting package? Also, since I am not available to purchase the iPhone 4 at a discount until June 30, can I pre-order on the 15th like others or will I just have to wait? When I am ready to order can I purchase through Apple online or should I go through AT&T?
Technically, no. Although I don't use the app. I imagine it doesn't do MMS. Also think there are advertisements with it. No idea about the pre-order though. Why June 30th? That's an odd date. You can dial *639# and receive a text message regarding your contract expiration date and upgrade eligibility.
Well, it's much easier to txt via SMS on the iPhone. But there are other methods like AIM and other programs that allow you to text phones... Problem with those are that they would use the internet to receive and send txt so you may get some late compared to ones on the SMS. And, I don't believe you'll be able to pre-order it. But, IMO, I don't believe there will be shortages this time around so you should be good. Purchasing through Apple and AT&T is really the same, if you want it shipped to your house, go with Apple. If you want it immediately and they have it in stock, go with AT&T. I personally hate AT&T stores, the guy at our place didn't know what he was doing. At least with the Apple Store, they are able to correctly activate it the first time on iTunes.
just sell your old iphones on ebay/craigslist. right now an unlocked 16 gb 3G is going for 200...im sure you can get at least 100 if you unlock it and sell after iphone 4 launch day.
You should be getting AT LEAST 300 if not more on Craigslist. 250 is the avg on eBay but eBay sucks with their seller fees. I'm sure these prices will stay like this even after the iPhone 4.
I'm sure there's still a high demand for the old ones for tmobile customers. I just sold my old 8gb 2G without working wifi for $160 yesterday.
The company would frown upon that. But they do let us watch CNBC (streamed) all day long on the PC. But that's more work-related. I run streamin audio apps (mainly I Heart Radio) for anywhere from 7-9 hours a day, 5 days a week. This month has been lighter usage since a few days I was too busy in meetings to bother listening, but according to my usage statistics, I've used almost 600 MB so far.
Rokkit/FF, I'm guessing all of my data usage comes from listening to Houston sports talk for 7-9 hours a day using the phone. I listen to it at work to pass the time as I work. I may be an extreme case, but FF, if you're saying there are 35% of us out there, then again maybe my case isn't so extreme. The only other thing I can think of that would use data much is I've sent a few MMS pics on a monthly basis to friends. I just looked up my data usage and I may have exaggerated a bit, but not much : Dec. 09 : 2.1 GB Jan. 10 : 1.2 GB Feb. 10 : 1.3 GB Mar. 10 : 1.8 GB Apr. 10 : 1.9 GB May. 10 : 1.9 GB I only stream the sports talk Mon - Fri. Not sure what else would be taking up that much bandwidth, so I'll blame that app.
For those of you wondering how much you're using, you can check online or by using the AT&T iPhone app. If you're streaming via wifi, you won't take a hit, so that's a plus. Here's a quote from an AP article : http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_tec_at_t_data_plans ------------------------------------------- One of the new AT&T plans will cost $25 per month and offer two gigabytes of data per month, which AT&T says will be enough for 98 percent of its smart phone customers. Additional gigabytes will cost $10 each. A second plan will cost $15 per month for 200 megabytes of data, which AT&T says is enough for 65 percent of its smart phone customers. If they go over, they'll pay another $15 for 200 more megabytes.
Nope. They don't charge data rates for that? I know in the past I've seen data rates charged for sending pics via Blackberry. Or at least I thought I did.
