Overall, it's funny that Apple and Google (and the bevy of hardware manufacturers) are now both innovating and trading punches with each other. It used to be solely Apple that was innovating. With both of them fighting for technological dominance, the consumers win, which is great.

However, the gains Google has made on Apple (surpassing them in several facets) with Android in just 18 months is absolutely jaw-dropping.

I am not sure if you have seen nokia n8 camera, but that is a real camera with a good lens to along with it.

Most camera phones even with high mp aren't very good.

I haven't, but phones with excellent cameras are few and far between. People think resolution of the picture is all that matters and that's far, far from the truth. That was my general point, I guess.

Exactly what I thought but didn't bother to correct him. Seems to me someone who is so use to the basic functionality of the iPhone couldn't get their head around using an Android.

Its like me trying to play a great new games but doesn't like it because of all the keys and keybinding that I need to remember or press.

If I remember right I think they said that the protocol for FaceTime was implemented using all open standards, implying that other phones would be able implement this as well (I think it was just as far as Apple products go it's just iPhone 4 that supports it.)

Also, they said that the video chat over Wi-Fi-only-thing was just for 2010 -- so hopefully in the future we'll have it over 3G or whatever when AT&T is ready.

It seems like there are a handful of people on this board who feel that their only objective is to go and **** in every single thread. In this aspect, I totally agree with DaDakota. Thinning out the board a little would great. If you don't like something, that's great. Just STFU and go post in a thread about something that you do like.

Your insistence on coming into every apple thread to bash is about the most pathetic thing I have seen on this forum in my nine years here. It is so sad that I was forced out of lurk mode to comment. You are fool.

Great now we have Facetime. I mean people text messaging without paying attention wasn't bad enough.

I'd like to know what protocol that might be. The "Internet"? Currently, FaceTime will only work iPhone 4 to iPhone 4, not even to Macs. That's pretty closed. Will their API to use it be extendable to other operating systems? Somehow I really, really doubt it; pardon my cynicism towards Apple. In fact, his exact quote is: "Now it's based on a handful of standards... but this is going to be an open industry standard."

What does that even mean? That Apple thinks it's going to set the standard? Here are the "handful of standards" it's based on:

It sounds like he just took a bunch of existing real standards, and made something new and thinks it will be the new standard. That's not open. That's not a standard. That's Apple inventing something that only the iPhone 4 can use and declaring it open. It's a laughable lie at best. Why can't he just use H.264 with AAC audio? Why invent something new? Because Apple is closed.

Edit: Of course, in all fairness, Google's inventing its own H.264 alternative with WebM using VP8 and Ogg Vorbis. Which will win? My money's on WebM because Google's already got Mozilla, Opera, and Microsoft signed on, as well as owning Youtube to push it out. Then again, Apple may only be using its new codec for video conferencing, but Google anticipates using WebM for that, too. Looks like we got ourselves a battle here.

At least I know what I'm talking about instead of talking through their ass. This design is superior to that junk plastic of the 3G and 3Gs.

No, not you. It was meant in general. No matter what thread you go into, there are the same cast of characters acting like flaming douche nozzles. It's seriously getting old.

People can say the same thing about you. If you don't like it or get totally upset by it, don't come in. It's a discussing board after all. Nobody is going to be a yes man and we don't live in a perfect world.

And you are a ****ing troll. If we did an analysis of all of your posts, I'd bet money that greater than 90% of them would be deemed complete garbage. In Team America when the drunk guy in the bar was explaining the kinds of people in the world, you would be the *******, because you **** all over everything.

Like you said, it's a discussion board but you never discuss anything. You just act like an *******. Don't worry, you aren't the only one. There are several others that are exactly like you. It is unfortunate that the few rotten apples spoil our bunch.

The nice thing about ClutchFans is the lack of trolls. That's why I checked out the ESPN boards for 2 minutes and never went back.

It's the internet though, and it's impossible not to have at least a handful. Thanks for filling that quota.

Honestly though, Android is not as straight-forward as the iPhone at the moment, and it is not as intuitive for those who are not tech-savvy. These aren't just phones anymore, they are hybrid phone/computers.
