like you have the 2G phone still? (only uses EDGE) you should be able to get an upgrade to a 3G or a 3Gs, the only thing is that they will extended your contract and there is an added monthly cost for the data/text iphone addon. (i think you end up paying anywhere from 10-15 dollars more a month depending on what data/text combo plan you choose)
Are you saying : 1) you have a 2G phone and want to upgrade to a 3G iphone 2) you have a 2G phone and want to upgrade to a 3Gs iphone 3) you have the 2.x software and want to upgrade to the 3 software on your iPhone ?
Not if I try to order under the conditions that apply to me: Add a new line to my existing account.* *The Apple Online Store supports only single-line activations at this time. If you want a new account with two or more iPhones or want to add a line to an existing account, you can start here and reserve your iPhone at an Apple Retail Store.
Right. However, it will reserve a phone for you and you can just go in and finish up in the store tomorrow. That's what my sister is doing.
I pre-ordered my 3GS on Monday, and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow by 3. - HOWEVAH - When I ordered it, I didn't change anything about my plan. Right now, I have a 3G with the typical data, and unlimited text. Yesterday, my cellular network (3G, EDGE, GPRS) suddenly stops working. I could make and receive calls, but no internet (except wifi), no exchange email, NADA. I thought the 3.0 upgrade would fix it but it didn't. I tried EVERYTHING. This morning, I call ATT and it turns out that somehow both my data AND my text got turned off. They fixed it right away, and all is well. I'm selling my 3G to a buddy of mine that doesn't have an iPhone. Just doing my part.
Sorry i wasn't very detailed i was rushing.. I have a 2G phone unlocked and jailbroken for t-mobile, it has 2.1 software but i just want to know how to upgrade it to the latest software if even possible Chilcutt
You could update it to 3.0, but you'd also have to re-unlock and jailbrake. I don't keep up with that stuff, but I'm pretty sure that those hacks aren't out yet.
I guess I'm getting my iPhone today after all. The Apple rep swore I wouldn't receive it today and it would probably be late next week. So, I show up at work and see it shipped standard overnight to be delivered today. I guess the moral to the story is these reps only know what their talking about some of the time but not all of the time.
Yeah, mine said on the Apple site that it wouldn't be delivered until the 22nd. Then, low and behold, this morning the FedEx tracking info states that it's on the truck out for delivery. It's a good thing too, because I accidentally broke the side switch (that switches the ringer off).
My beautiful wife, if you are reading this, please move along to the next post. Ok, now that's out of the way, I walked into an AT&T store at 10:00 this morning and walked out with a 32GB 3GS by 10:30. No pre-order, no lines. Easy and efficient. Now I have to wait until I get home to sync everything up. My wife will be getting my 3G even though she doesn't know it yet. Here's the cool thing. My contract is up next year and now her's will be up the year after that so every year we can upgrade. I'll get the newest one since I'm the only one that cares about that kind of **** and she will be getting my old one. Great success!
Got my 32GB Black 3Gs... It's pretty cool, I guess, not too much of an upgrade, but hey, free upgrade for me... so I don't really care.
Are people really stupid enough to queue up at popular iPhone sales locations when they can just walk into an AT&T outlet and get one no problem? There seems to be conflicting information that some places have lines and others have no lines. I thought there would be lines personally cause most people want the latest even if they already have it was my thinking...but guess not. I also understand some people...mainly those already on the 3G version...are not eligible for upgrade without paying a hefty price. So, it makes sense the demand is down this time around.
Yes. In fact, when the first iPhones came out, I walked into an ATT store the next day and walked out with one. I can't believe there would be ANY lines, especially since the phone is now sold so many different places. Insane.
what is up with this up to 48 hour wait to activate the phone service? ugh! i assume you cannot connect to the 3G network until that happens. i dig what i'm seeing so far.
See the thing is... at my Apple store... which is Sugar Land - First Colony Mall... There were two lines set up, one was for people who didn't have the iPhone 3Gs reserved... and the other was for the reserved... My line took ABOUT 40 mins... wasn't too many people, they had 6 people working for that line and 2 people working for the other line... but I asked the guy and he said, there's at least half the people on the reserved list that haven't picked theirs up so they'll be some lines throughout the day (this was around 9 AM when I went)... I don't believe they sold out of any, I think the AT&T stores that I know of did, but my Apple store did not at the time when I was there... People like me, well, I gave it a shot to sell on eBay to see what I could get, I got $550 for it, I was satisfied with that, so I took that and bought my iPhone 3Gs 32GB for $547 with taxes. Yeah, I got another year on my contract than I already had, but I got that upgrade of a phone for free for basically adding a year. I can sell this 3Gs next year now on eBay when another iPhone comes out. You gotta be smart about it, It's not like I really wanted the new one, I just gave it a shot, and it worked out.
What 48 hour wait? I didn't have to wait, my phone is fully active since the time I got it activated in the morning (which took 30 seconds).
