How many developers are going to the effort for their apps to use the newer processor when there are so many old iphones out there?
Well, it's only going to continue to get faster, so I don't think it's something that will be ignored. With the sheer volume of apps out there, I have no doubt that many of them are going to start trying to take advantage of it fairly quickly. Especially the games - if that GPU jump is as sizeable as it seems. Not that that will leave everyone else in the dark. I've read somewhere already that it shouldn't be a problem for many apps to 'scale' to the appropriate hardware (as far as processing power goes), but who knows.
Report him. Maybe if enough people report him, he'll get banned. If I had the ability to ban people, half this board would be gone by now.
It's true. WM6.5 has been leaked for certain phones. It's not as bad on the resources like 6.1, but it's still a hog and typical for MS software to rely on hardware to make up for it's laziness and sloppiness. I would get an iPhone if I could get it cheaper and on other carriers. A higher resolution screen would even make me jealous. Doesn't mean my phone is chopped liver, but it had to be said.
I'm using winmo 6.5 beta on my ipaq from the xda developer's site. It's better than 6.1, but not quite there... Now enter SBP's new Shell 3.0. Anyone with winmo should absolutely download it. It's about $30 and it absolutely awesome. With this shell and if my ipaq 910 had a bigger screen with safari, I would say it's better than the iPhone. Microsoft should hire SBP's staff to design their UI. Love the customizable Lifestyle screen. check it out: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/unHH0xIlQWU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/unHH0xIlQWU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
I put my 3G on eBay... just for the hell of it. I put the reserve price at $500... if I get it, good for me, I just ripped someone off, if not, well I don't really care. I just thought I'd try it out... It's a kind of experiment for the future, I don't usually like to take advantage of these situations by jipping people, but I guess it's worth a try, I guess.
Is jailbreaking and unlocking a challenging thing to do? I am probably going to get the new phone on Friday and have no idea what to do with my current iPhone.
Well, it's not really too hard... just visit the iPhone Dev team's website at http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ and there are step by step instructions on how to jailbreak the phone, if you have any questions/probs, you can email me. Enjoy!
For anyone thinking of ordering the iPhone online, do yourself a favor and order through apple. I ordered through the AT&T site on saturday and am not seeing much progress. According to some insider websites, I might be getting my phone 2 weeks out from the launch. Apple apparently still has a bunch left.
I was going to get mine at the ATT store in downtown on McKinney at Main. Do you guys think they will have any? edit. just remembered, i won't be in downtown friday. I'll be in The Woodlands/Conroe.
