It'll have a better camera, a little faster internet... and a compass. That's about all the difference... I think that's why they aren't allowing 3G customers to upgrade to 3G+.. because it's not really a major difference at all as far as hardware goes.
# Improved performance # 3-megapixel autofocus camera # Video recording # Voice Control # Digital compass plus double the storage. only good thing to come out of the conference today is the regular iphone is 100 bucks cheaper. i dont see why a new customer would pay 100 more for a slightly better camera and video recording (which people have been doing already by jailbreaking it) and i certainly dont see why any happy 3G owners would pay to get the 3Gs since most of them still have 1 year left on their contract. i am guessing apple knew that and thats why they didnt introduce anything innovating. maybe next june.
So there is no improvement in the battery life? I would think this would be one of the first things Apple would want to improve on.
Awesome. That was probably the biggest thing holding me back from getting one. This probably seals the deal
So I just came from an Apple retail store I couldn't exchange it because 1) I bought it on ebay and I don't have the receipt 2) 14 days already passed from original purchase 3) They didn't have any in stock(said they have it in a week) Apparently the employees know nothing about the new Macbook Pro. Can't blame them, it was just recently announced
iPhone 3GS totally FAIL. So much for: new design video calling multi tasking oled screen multi cores Fm Radio And same 480x360 resolution... I think all this hype was more to do with trying to disrupt the Palm Pre grand opening.
im very underwhelmed as well..definately will wait another year before upgrading my current iphone 3G 16gb
The battery life on the 3G really isn't that bad. I can generally go 2.5-3 days without charging and I use it as my ipod and have bluetooth enabled at all times. I also have WiFi enabled when I'm at home. Maybe I just got lucky. I think this upgrade is aimed at keeping those who had the iPhone 2G and getting new customers. Those with the 2G are at the end of their 2-year commitment and will qualify for a very good upgrade price. Those of us with the 3G are probably going to be waiting for a year for the upgrade, and I'm fine with that. OS 3.0 should have enough to keep me satisfied for another year or so. I'm still extremely happy with my iPhone. It would be sweet to have 32 GB of storage, though.
More like RUMOR FAIL. Since when did Apple promise any of these things? Jesus, I work for a direct competitor of Apple, and even I don't understand your attitude. Was the iPhone 3GS a bit of a letdown? Somewhat, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. The 3GS with the 3.0 software build is still going to be a SOLID phone and likely the best on the market. The way I see it, the iPhone 3GS is aimed at the iPhone 2G owners who are just now getting out of their 2-year contract. (Like me, except I have a GoPhone plan. ) Apple offered just enough of an incremental upgrade over the 3G to get those people to stay with Apple. 3G iPhone owners, like yourself, shouldn't even be worrying about the 3GS, due to the whole 2-year contract thing. Just skip a generation like us faithful 2G owners and stop frothing at the mouth already. As an aside, it seems like every thread you're involved in devolves into a pissing contest or worse. Why is that?
I sometimes miss my G1 over my iPhone because T-Mobile was cheaper and was not afraid to give its users MMS messaging!
Everything I am reading is stating that AT&T will not have MMS activated for iPhone users when 3.0 is released next week. This is so bizarre.
Yes, AT&T is full of fail sometimes. Check out this rumor: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009...upport-mms-with-the-iphone-until-late-summer/
Should have unlocked your iPhone and Jailbroken it and you get T-Mobile and MMS. 2 wins! I love being able to use T-Mobiles $6 T-Zones for my data plan as well. Make that 3 wins!
