Don't get me wrong. The iPhone 3G is a good phone. But they like ticking off their customers. Alot of people didn't expect all the promises from Apple and what to exactly expect from the iPhone but they fail on delivering what exactly what people wants. Stuff like, MMS, copy and past, video recording, bluetooth file transfering, to name a few that was lacking on the iPhone. Stuff like that were expect by people but never deliver. So you tell me why they didn't implemented that back then? Why now? My very old Sony Ericsson can almost do all that. I'm a gadget geek and I bought the iPhone 3G because I love the whole new idea about a touch phone and it's stable and good OS. When you spend $600 on a phone, you have a good reason to complain.

You people make it sound like I'm that pissed off like I'm banging my computer and ripping out my hair.

The Macbooks - I'm marginally interested, and like how the price is dropping, but I'm still too satisfied with my 13" black Macbook to upgrade. I'll almost certainly grab S-Leopard though.

As long as the iPhone is exclusive to AT&T, I'm probably not getting one. I love my iTouch, but am fairly married to Verizon. I know plenty of folks with an iPhone, have seen each and everyone of them get frustrated with poor (no) signal strength when they get out of the city.

That said, the updates seem nice, if not spectacular. I like the compass, I really like the car navigator inclusion. The voice control seems a little gimmicky to me.

I would like to look deeper into the App store. In fact, I'm leaning to getting a second iPhone: keep one for watching movies, and have a second dedicated for Apps. I'm not looking for games, more at the medical apps and the other "functional" ones. There's just not enough space yet for both, especially when most movies eat a solid 1.25 GB each.

You really haven't. You've been the definition of a troll. You aren't in this thread because you want to talk about Apple or the iPhone, you want to piss on it and anyone interested in the subject. No different than people that go into threads about a band they don't care for just to let all those posters know that they hate the band. At least those posters have the decency and sense to make their one post and walk away. Seriously, be a man and move on with your life.

Of course, they didn't promise anything they didn't deliver, as far as I'm concerned. The place to nitpick would be in the slowness of software updating features. But that's just me being impatient. I think they were careful not to make any specific promises in regards to what they'd be adding and when. And they have made plenty of free improvements since I bought the phone.

Specifically, I personally wish that MMS and Cut/Copy/Paste had come sooner, although you can get around it pretty easily by just emailing to mobile numbers or just using email in general.

Cut/Copy/Paste I was more upset about before, but I jailbroke and installed it, and to be honest, I pretty much never used it- so rarely, in fact, that I actually restored my phone to its non-jailbroken state, since I found that my jailbroken phone was a bit slower and more buggy/crash prone.

Which I guess is why Apple takes longer to implement these things- they are obviously good ideas, but most of the jailbreak devs don't have the time/ability/desire to fully integrate and bug test to the degree Apple does. I can see how it makes good business sense for Apple to use the jailbreaking community as a testing ground for ideas and what people would like to see implemented, then go ahead and do them right.

It's part of what I see as a key difference between the iPhone and other more open-source type phones (like google's, etc.). By retaining control more over the OS and software development/distribution, the experience is supposed to be more smooth. But you necessarily lose some ability to stay on the leading edge of what people can do with the software.

It's a stupid idea to buy the iPhone (or any product) specifically in the hopes of future updates fixing something you don't like about it when you buy it.

You have the second most posts in this thread and they've been a one-note.

If I posted 15 times that I really really love my iTouch, people in this thread would tell me to knock it off too.

You aren't enamoured with the iPhone and think Apple is mostly hype. Got it, thanks. We've heard you ad nauseam.

This is the first post where you actually wrote specifics rather than just blathering on. Some of the stuff you described is being delivered via a free SW update next week.

Since video recording requires a different type of hardware, of course that is something you would need to address with a new phone. I doubt Apple ever said that your iPhone 3G will be able to have video capabilities with a software upgrade.

You bought that phone knowing those features had yet to be implemented. I don't see any way that Apple is at fault. Did you buy the 3G thinking it already had those capabilities?

What's pathetic is that I don't bow down to any brand with my face in their nutsacks.

So I guessed we should banned and rookified and call all people pathetic if they disagree with a thread dedicated to TMAC.

    uhm RIGHT.

i still can't believe how you still think ATT has a good data network.

    restricting slingbox app to wifi
no mention of att by apple about tethering
MMS has to wait till end of summer..why???

and where's the video calling again? and front camera?

apple knows they're limited by ATT's network but they really have no choice since they don't want to make a CDMA version for sprint/verizon.

ATT is stupid for not having MMS and Tethering ready to go from day 1. The 3 remaining "left out" features people have been clamoring for since the first iPhone launched. MMS, Tethering, and copy/paste (as far as software updates).

Apple has all 3 ready to go, on 20+ carriers around the world...except ATT

The second ATT announces their "NEW UNLIMTED iPHONE MMS BUNDLE!" at 30 bucks a month (compared to 20 currently for unlimited SMS), and "TETHERING only 24.99!", they've lost me as far as those features. Tethering I've wanted for a long time, but at this point, I may just wait a few months, and get a Dell laptop Oct 22nd with a built in Verizon Wireless aircard, and Win7 installed.

(I'm also a little upset over ATT gimping the Hulu app so it has to be on wifi)

YOu haven't answer my question. Why are they doing it now? You know. I can use that same analogy what you wrote on TMAC. So why TMAC is at fault? Why people are pissed off with him?

they don't like ticking off their customers. no successful business likes ticking off their customers.

none of the features you list were listed as being on the iPhone 3G when you bought it. None of them were promised to be coming in the future by apple when you bought it. For whatever reason, it took them until now to decide that they were satisfied with their implementation of these features. Personally, I'd prefer that they work flawlessly and the company stand behind them, rather than be implemented in a half-assed way 6 months ago and crashing my phone all the time. It goes to your "stable and good OS". Say what you want about the fact that they weren't included from the beginning, but you knew they weren't when you bought it.

So now that they are being added,FOR FREE, now is when you choose to complain about it?

You're a gadget geek who loves the idea of a "touch phone with a stable and good OS". Did you or did you not get that? If not, try complaining about that stuff. You know, the stuff you actually paid for.

also, as a "gadget geek", you could have jailbroken and added plenty of features like copy & paste, video recording, etc. for free. I did, but decided I'd rather wait for the stable apple versions so I switched back.

No, you make it sound like that- by sounding like that.

I am not sure I understand your question. Hardware and software companies continually update their products. When should they do it? In due time there will be updates to the iPhone 3Gs.

Do you think they should NEVER create updates and new products?

They put out a very good (at least very well received) product in the iPhone 3G. It obviously lacked some features that they did not implement at the time, probably becuase they wanted to get it out the door. They are now providing a FREE update to the 3G software that will allow you to do some of the things you have mentioned.

I'm still wondering why my iPod touch can't use a playlist as an alarm like my iPod Classic could.

speaking of at&t, are they going to lose money if they offer plans without minutes? i know there are some people that want a iphone but don't need minutes LIKE me!

my friend pays $90 bucks just to use iphone every month and she doesn't need the minutes...that's just too much for me. i'm fine with $35 a month for my sidekick. i really wish i could do that for a iphone or G1 phone. :(

    that's even better!

Then, you can also complain about the movie being too short and the story not having an ending.

    I can't believe I am still <strike>punishing myself by</strike> reading your posts, but ...

'What's pathetic is that you don't bow down to any brand...?'

I'm not even sure I know where you're going with this, but at least the hint of your misplaced anger is being revealed now. You hate that they have a following of somewhat zealous customers/fans, you are not one of those people, you resent that and those people, you came here to tell us that, and apparently think that because your old sony phone did something, that any new phone should also do that something (or any other something), no matter how many other things they do or what value the product might have otherwise. Check... got it.

Meh, no cleaning it up... you're disgruntled, and want us all to know. Gotcha. Thanks for "discussing" that with the rest of us. As for me, I like my regular old phone, but some of the features on the newer ones are appealing. Perfect? no, but what is? What I do know is that my same old phone seems to get better all the time. Personally I can't hate on that.

How am I bowing down to anyone or anything? Explain that to me please... I'm confused...

Both of our opinions are assumptions... what's out there now... is that it is strong enough... that's all I have to say. You can't just assume it's not, there's no real facts behind the network being weak.
