Every role Common has ever been in is to say things so that the denser part of the audience understands the plot.
I disagree. I've found the world building and the mystery of the Silo interesting, a proper pacing for the show. I guess it helps I have not read the books nor do I intend to.
Good first season final episode. I honestly can't remember how faithful it is to the books. I think it's time for a reread.
i was hoping for more a resolution than a year to year clifhanger. Still good but that ending. Spoiler even more mysteries... So many silos...i suppose tim Robbins alerting his fascist buddies over the silo underwebs Whats the deal with perpetuating the lie to the point of using holograms outside? Apparently the hologram is independently powered to an individual silo reset Robbins prob knows where the underground gate leads to but why does he know all the answers? Kinda disappointed the forbidden hard drive didnt give more info out. If this is before times level tech, it should have everything beyond what tim robbins knows. What did George know from the hd? That ****ing weirdo... Overall wasn't too satisfied with the initial mysteries because the reveal at the end diminished what i originally was led to care about...
Well, that was disappointing. No answers, more mysteries. The worst kind of story telling. I had a feeling it would go the way of Lost or Severance. A season should have some answers. I'm not interested in more questions without answers.
I don’t get where this is going and why they just don’t show the world outside from the inside exactly as it is? I guess they wouldn’t have their bs story then.
spoiler for those who haven’t finished S01. I’ve only read Wool, so no spoilers here that go beyond that. Just jotting down a couple big things S01 didn’t address much from the book. Spoiler the main difference is, in Wool, they were able to use a radio to communicate with another silo, and the door played a larger role. Although, as I recall, neither side of the radio knew for sure who they were talking to. There was also a big rebellion from down deep. I just have a vague memory of its importance to the plot. Maybe you can help jog my memory. The tape was explained better, so we knew (and she knew) she was in a more secure suit. But the main reveal in the finale is true to how Wool ended. Wool was a cliffhanger, too. I guess they didn’t include the radio communication in order to make the reveal more sudden and unpredictable. Whereas in the book readers had clues, and it was more, “yep, I knew it!”
Do you mean this? Spoiler do you mean why they don’t they show the other silos? My guess would be for fear of war between silos over resources, resulting in extinction, if they knew each other existed. so that’s why they need one know-it-all guy in each silo (with supreme power) to suppress any dangerous knowledge that more silos exist. And Tim Robbins is probably running to get on some batphone to the other know-it-all guys from nearby silos to warn them to shut off their cameras, because she’s coming over the ridge.
Spoiler If it’s any consolation, the original book, Wool, ends on the same cliffhanger. But Planet of the Apes ended on a big reveal, too, with no real need to have sequels. Wool’s reveal is just to make us think about what it means to have more humans still alive in other silos. imo, it’s a legit ending, like Planet of the Apes was. I don’t really think such a story needs more books or seasons, necessarily. It’s fine sci-fi storytelling to end right there. but our thirst for more gets publishers and writers saying, OK, let’s explore what it means for the silo to know other people exist out there….which I’m sure leads to war. .
Thought it was pretty damn solid. Time to possibly re-read as well. Last time I read it was about a decade ago.
Finally finished this last night. I am not a book reader so I had no idea what was coming. I thought the final reveal was pretty interesting. I'll spoiler the rest: Spoiler Seems a little weird that the only real subterfuge about the outside is what the person who goes "cleaning" sees. I guess that is just for motivation for them to go clean the camera. I suppose it is important to keep the other silos a secret so no one tries to go visit, but that's pretty easy since you can't see them and everyone dies pretty quickly anyway. There was a moment during the generator shutdown when the power goes out and for a moment the people in the cafeteria see the same green landscape feed that the cleaner sees. In retrospect that doesn't make a lot of sense that that video feed would ever be connected to that screen. And that never really went anywhere anyway. Was just a tease for the viewing audience. It also felt a little weird how people reacted to certain things. I mean Juliette had a quiet freakout when she saw the video George left her. But they had to understand the concept of video cameras by very nature of the screen showing the outside...so why was that such a shocker? Overall I enjoyed the show. Rebecca Ferguson is good but definitely struggles to keep her accent in check. Common was pretty meh, which is disappointing because I've actually liked him in the past in other shows (Hell on Wheels comes to mind). Tim Robbins was pretty good. Seemed like he was playing his character from Mystic River all grown up. I'm definitely down for the next season.
Looks like this got greenlit for 4 seasons covering the trilogy. Was kinda hoping it would end in 2 after the ripoff cliffhanger of the first season. .
I just want to know where common got that leather jacket in the apocalypse. that **** gotta be a banned artifact.
I like all the things about it, trust me, eventually I will watch it, but isn't this really just the same thing as Fallout?
