My wife reads all the time, although she thinks they are somewhat cool, she wants it to be color and wants to be able to read it in the dark without turning on a lamp. This will be perfect for her.
I'm sorry I want more out of a $250 device that does one thing. Everyone has their own opinion, but I personally don't find it practical to carry multiple devices around when I could get one device that does more. E-readers are not for me; love them if you want. I won't hate on your product satisfaction but it's too simple for me.
LOL. So pretty much you got suckered by APPLE. "Luxury netbook" and "Cool". Cool looking is nice but giving what people wants isn't Apple style. You sir are a fool.
So you think that people in the market for a new laptop (that only own one laptop and maybe a desktop) are going to seriously consider this, rather than buying a traditional laptop? That's the only way this thing is going to be a huge success. People replaced their phones with iPhones, and their CD collections with iPods. I don't see anybody replacing their PC/Mac laptop or desktop with this thing. It's a fluff product that people will buy because they want a new toy...some kindle users might go for it as well.
The iPad is the star of this event, I don't think there will be any iPhone or MacBook announcements today.
Yes because most people that don't use their computers for work, just surf the web with their computers. My brother-in-law makes all his business deal on his iphone at the country club. He's in the telecom business. The only time he ever gets on a computer is to write a proposal which he could easily do on this device.
Hey little child, it's unfortunate you can't understand that other people have opinions that differ from yours. I'm speaking with knowledge of what Apple has done this decade. I own one Apple device -- the iPod Touch. I'm not raving about every single Apple product. I'm sorry you can't see what this device is capable of and how it will be marketed (by merely being an Apple device). But gosh, I must be such a fool for not seeing the world in your eyes.
well once the price point was established. I'm buying the $499 one asap. it's too cheap (gadget wise) to pass up for geeks now. this will replace textbooks in classrooms (already working with major textbook publishers). yeah, this will take away from the college netbook market.
There will be a large market for this. Majority of people just surf and net and chat. So this is good enough for it. Sadly not enough for me to either replace my iPhone or my laptop.
At least netbooks MULTI-TASK. The iPad can't even do that, so if you are in college, typing up notes, but want to check something on Wikipedia, you have to exit out of pages, launch wikipedia, then exit the Wikipedia, and launch Pages again.
The first ipods were sold at 300 and 400 dollar price points. They weren't even color and they sold like hot cakes. Price wise, they hit the ball out of the park.
im curious if at some point people will be able to start getting books for free downloaded. damn that would make school a lot LOT cheaper. get the same degree, learn about the same information. whats not to like about that.
uhm...that's because people were in need an mp3 player.. when the iphone came out..people were in need of a good phone. this is not going to sell like hotcakes. especially not in this economy on an ATT network.
thats it? no announcements regarding the iphone? wow lame absolutely LAME i dont know why anyone would by an iPad the lack of multi-tasking is a glaring omission if you ask me
Why do you want anything to run in the background while you are doing something on a limited use device. As long as the app saves your state while its down, it doesn't matter.
Wow, it does not have multi-task? Oh wow, now that's a BIG freaking FAILURE!! This make me hate Apple even more. Just a big overbloated version of the iPhone.
So if I'm dowloading songs on itunes I can't be checking gmail? I don't understand this lack of multi-tasking thing.
