Wow, please stop talking out of your ass. Multitasking on a netbooks, desktop or laptop does not run like crap using Windows.
Did someone say people will carry this thing to the mall? Yeah, maybe douchebags. I don't see the niche of this product other than satisfying the voracious appetite of gadget-whores. It's a really big iPhone...without the phone?
The ability to multitask allow companies to install applications that run in the background. These background apps are what kills performance on most computers. Taking multitasking away eliminates that problem.
does apple think people are like kangaroos with lil pouches where we can put all this stuff? surely keeping this and the iphone sratch free is no easy task.
Lots of phones drop calls too. The logical solution to that would be to just take away the ability to make calls.
So busting out your 9" iPad at the mall would be easier than jumping on your iPhone? lol This product is a tech-toy for tech-geeks, a possible upgrade/replacement to the kindle, and might attract some netbook users (but at a stiffer price than netbooks). It will sell, but nothing like iPhone or iPods ... just cannot see people replacing PC's or laptops with it. I don't know if that was Apple's goal, either.
i'm not saying it isn't useful. I'm just saying that its not a deal breaker for most people. Sales figures of the palm pre versus the iphone supports my thinking
lol. take away the most useful feature on a computer? changing lanes create accidents..so just make all highways 1 lane. that should teach them.
I would imagine this not being as much of an issue. Chrome OS is pushing the cloud computing and Apple already has MobileMe.
This thing is going to be a bust relative to its vast expectations. The only way I would buy it was if it could replace my laptop, but it can't! I believe this thing is only for suckers........and there are many of them out there
what does something being automatic have to do with not being able to do more than 1 thing at a time?
complete control of a device? Manipulation? It works for me because I have my Nokia N900. I was looking at a kindle but now I don't have too.
Then why do people pick smartphones over basic phones? People pick automatic transmissions because benefits outweigh the drawbacks, not because it's simpler.
It sounds like people wanting this to be more than an iTouch are asking for more than Apple intended. It doesn't sound like it can begin to replace a PC in the house or be something you carry in your pocket down to the mall. It sounds like something you have on your coffee table so that when a friend comes up with some BS factoid, you can look it up on the web quickly and prove he's full of it. (Which you can do on your iPhone too.)
