I have a 4S that's fine apart from a busted home button, and I just don't see that much of a leap forward to make it worthwhile upgrading.

I own my 4S outright and I'd have probably upgraded if the new iPhone had a bigger screen. The finger print tech doesn't interest me. I've had two iPhones where the home button died on me. I wouldn't be trusting a finger print scanner in an iPhone home button.

Can other apps use the fingerprint authentication? For example, would my banking app be able to update and allow me to log into my account using fingerprint? If so, this is a fantastic feature, given how annoying it is to type and track passwords on a phone.

If it can only be used for unlocking and buying apps, it's far less useful - though still lets people who hate entering a 4-digit PIN all the time start locking their phones.

^ from what i understand, apple stated that finger print will not be
share with other app, so i guess you can only use your finger print to do things relate to apple and not other companies.

I read somewhere exactly that - that apps wouldn't have access to the sensor. But then I read elsewhere that apps might have access to confirmation - that is, they couldn't mess with the sensor itself, but the OS could tell the app whether a valid fingerprint was being entered. I can't seem to find clarification anywhere though.

If apps can access it, that's a massive change in how quickly you could use your phone in my opinion. The fact that Apple hasn't made it clear, though, suggests that this isn't the case. :(

That would make too much sense, so probably no.

Kind of like Siri. It would be amazing if it utilized your installed apps to get information. But no. It just googles everything for you...

If the developers of 3rd party apps are smart they'll add the support. I'm sure they will

looks like I won't upgrade from the 5. I really liked the upgrade from the 4s to the 5. The longer phone when turned sideways is much better for the surfing the web. The killer app is the internet itself and the LTE made it so much greater.

    I rarely use apps.

Now if the the 5s was faster or perhaps bigger then I would be interested.

If you have the 4 or 4s upgrade.

the 5S processor is supposed to be the equivalent of a core 2 duo. WOW, funny how iPhone has dual core processors that completely dominate quad core processors found in android phones.

argument would probably more valid if google's own motorola didn't release their latest flagship with a dual core processor (and also if three of vzw's current android devices are dual core).

there's no question that sammy, htc, lg, etc are overkilling. apple AND google/motorola have already proven that.

With the following specs, does this mean the Verizon version will work on AT&T and T-mobile with full HSPA+ and LTE support?

    Model A1533 (GSM)*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25)
    Model A1533 (CDMA)*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25)
