The only Apple I will ever need in my life. Apple's marketing scheme is one I've never seen before. They pushed so many iPhones over the holiday season. You need a 2 year "agreement" to buy the phone. On eBay they were closing for an average of $750 at the time. Many closed for over $800, but never below $670. People saw that and quickly switched to AT&T even though the internet on the phone is hardly ever useful. The richer you are, the cheaper the phone seems. "Oh, I will pay $30 the phone is worth $1,000 (some closed that high) on eBay." Some people who had an iPhone before the mandatory internet plan that comes with the phone were able to avoid the $30 it costs to own every month...if they spent 30 minutes with a service rep. Now, they charge you $200 to cancel it. AT&T & Apple - They have pretty much merged together. Apple gets $15 every month for every $30 service contract. They make people switch to AT&T and improve their revenue. T-Mobile is offering them billions just give them the same deal, but they won't. I don't see why not when it can only improve income. They need to forget about the relations with AT&T, because this competitive advantage is really hurting T-Mobile. These days everyone needs a cell phone. I am telling you if you need one use T-Mobile. They are the best with minutes and cost. Recap: the phone had a market value of $850 three months ago. Att.com was selling the 3GS for $199, and the refurbished ones for $100. The phone has a market value on ebay (new) of around $450. To cancel the phone it's $200. Factor in a new cell phone, shipping, taxes, ebay/paypal fees and it will cost more than the phone is worth. And seriously Google, don't give me a company logo when I type in a fruit.
Will be getting one. I broke my ipod touch a year ago and have been wanting another. The iPad is just a giant ipod so I'll just pay a little extra for the larger screen.
Ah yes, your hatred of iStuff runs deep... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4980219&postcount=25
iPad is basically a iPod Touch with an enlarged screen... nothing special guys. It's too big to fit in your pocket, while it's too technologically primitive to replace your laptop... This is just Apple wanting to make more money off a device that contributes nothing to daily life whatsoever.
Warranty. Unlocked iPhones can not be updated either. I don't think that matters, however it does if you want to jailbreak it. If you unlock/jailbreak it after updating you can kiss your phone goodbye.
yeah, it's not that hard. I am still on OS 3.0 on my unlocked/jailbroken iPhone for T-Mobile and I see no need to update, probably won't to it until 4.0 comes out.
Don't you guys with T-Mobile have to pay eight bucks a month or something of that nature? I can't jailbreak my iPhone since I upgraded it to 3.3. It would void my warranty as well. Anyways, Antonio Meucci invented the telephone. In 1875 Alexander Bell said he invented the telephone and until this day AT&T (Bell) charges service for this guys invention. At least Meucci credit.
If you have 3.3 hook me up and let Engadget and some other sites know 3.13 maybe, which indeed is jailbreak-able
I don't pay anything extra, I don't have data. I live on campus so there is wi-fi everywhere. Jailbreaking voids your warranty only if you are dumb enough to try and take your iPhone to get fixed without first restoring it.
Not a fan of the iTampon. Internet but no flash? You gotta be kidding me. Portable but huge. No thank you. Now the HP Slate on the other hand, sounds amazing.
You and Joey Zasa need to start a campaign to right this egregious wrong. You have got to be ****ing kidding me........
Alright, I'm home. I launched it today. My initial opinion of the iPad wasn't positive (months back at the first announcement). I'd agreed completely with the "oversized iPod Touch" crowd (by the way, there is no such thing as an iTouch, and you sound like an idiot every time you say it). Over the last couple months, I started to warm up to it a little bit. I started to learn more about its capabilities and started to see the functional differences between it and an "oversized iPod Touch." It still wasn't my first option to get one, but it made financial sense for me. Basically, it's the least expensive way for me to get a netbook and get internet everywhere (my discount + no contract = cheap). I'd resigned to getting an iPad. We launched it today. I used one for an aggregate total of about 20 minutes over the course of the day. Simply put, it's fantastic. It's my favorite Apple product since the iPod, and that's saying something big. I like it more than the iPhone. I'm a big desktop guy; I like it more than the Macbooks. I even like it more than the i7 iMacs, and that's REALLY saying something. If you guys have the chance in the next couple of weeks, head over to the store to check it out. Until I actually held it and used it, I didn't get it. Man, I very much do now. Those of you who often see my comments on other Apple threads on the boards know I'm pretty transparent about things. I'm not going to defend the brand or anything like that here. For starters, I'm not even supposed to do that, so that makes the decision easy. As usual, I'm not going to argue with you, so don't even waste your time trying.
Wait wait wait...you ranted about how Apple and AT&T are both evil companies that have stolen people's virginity, innocence, and soul and how the iphone is an overpriced phone and, yet, you have one yourself?
