So glad I own AAPL stock! http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/...ipad-purchase-became-a-1170-credit-card-bill/
LOL, it actually went off when Dave showed it. Not buying it. The biggest problem is that it doesn't support stylus and hand writing, which render this thing next to useless b/c other PDA can pretty much accomplish same tasks ipad claims it can do. I love my thinkpad tablet.
1) Not having a stylus is supposed to be, and perceived by many, a giant plus. 2) The input, short of handwriting, is about as intuitive/simple and effective as you could ask for. 3) I think you're confusing the fact that just because a PDA (iPhone or Blackberry) can do most of the things an iPad can do (not all, and definitely not as effectively), does not mean that everyone wants to do those things *on* their PDAs. And that was the sleep mechanism I'm pretty sure.
I'm not sure...I don't think I need one - why are they able to sell something as something "better" when it actually gives you less (a laptop can do everything that this thing can, plus you can type on a proper keyboard)? Brilliant marketing by Apple, though.
Not buying it simply because it's just an iPhone that's bigger... it really doesn't have many features that the iPhone does... I don't really read that often unless it's a textbook so yeah it wouldn't help me much in that regard. Next thing I'm waiting for is a new iPhone.
looks like it - the one just south of central park. when i was in nyc a couple years ago gnarls barkley did an instore there on a tuesday afternoon - happened to walk by just as it was ending...GRRRR. and i wont be getting an ipad - i do have an ipod - no iphone.
1) needs flash, then i'll think about it. 2) lower price tag. 10" netbook is $250. 3) Lenovo IdeaPad U1
I bought some shares about 6 years ago when it was trading for 37.00 a share, sold half of it when it was around 170. Wish I hadn't done that, but still made a nice little profit.
just got mine. video quality is superb. my only problem is the saleslady tricked me that i need to buy a docking station to be able to charge my ipad. when i opened it there was charger. I'm returning that damn docking station. it's useless.
The iPad is more about CONSUMING media and less about CREATING it. I think there is a large lay-person market that this targets to. Haters will hate it. Super tech people will dislike it's "limitations", but the general public will appreciate it for what it offers to them.
Is there a stand or something, because how can one efficiently type on a digital keyboard while still holding the device vertically? Either that or any serious typing will have to be done while this thing sits in your lap which means bad view angles. But cmon no flash, no usb, no camera? And even the zune HD can do video output at 720p, so why can this powerhouse only do 480p?
Just wondering how it's supposed to make web-browsing easier than a regular laptop. Having a keyboard is a huge advantage to me, and I don't see how having a touch keyboard is supposedly better.
The more I look at the reviews and the apps designed for this thing, the more I want to purchase one. Too bad I am a poor college student. I am mainly interested in the newspaper apps, this could possibly be the future of print media. Then there are the streaming apps, like the ABC Player, Netflix, and if Hulu pops up on this watch out.
There is a case for it which turns into a stand. Apple won't be doing flash anytime soon. There's no USB because it's not a computer... it's really just a gigantic iPhone/iPod Touch. I don't really understand why they didn't put a front facing camera, but it really doesn't hurt the products image that they didn't put one on there. The HD thing isn't that simple. Zune HD can't really output 720p... you can't even see 720p on such a small screen like the Zune HD. I think Apple is going to move towards a new screen (such as OLED) once it's introduced in the iPhone first. The video quality is already superb from what I see... I just don't think Apple is ready to make that transition into HD just yet. I would bet that they would first make an HD iPhone before they put it on their tablet.
It's not for everyone, but until you try the keyboard out, you can't really judge it. It really does have a simple keyboard that you can type on, it's user-friendly... think of an iPhone keyboard on landscape mode except WAY bigger with spacing. Like I said though, it's really not for everyone.
interesting article about why flash for ipad was never going to work in the first place. http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2010/02/20/an-adobe-flash-developer-on-why-the-ipad-cant-use-flash/
If you get the HD dock, it has an hdmi out that will allow 720p video output. From what I understand the Ipad can only output 480p. Supposedly this was limited on purpose to not cannibalize appletv.
Apple TV is going no where. I think Apple realized that that junk is failing. The HDMI output stuff isn't coming around just yet, but I think Apple wants to wait to introduce their HD line of things. I think they're going to have HDMI inputs in their MacBooks as well once this whole HD spectrum of Apple is implemented. Apple never blows away with their first generation of products, it's usually afterwards where you see significant changes to hardware... it's how they've always been.
