McGrady may be doing Orlando a favor, but this is the second team he is bailing out on in his career, this team after getting a very good coach fired. Francis has his issues, but we aren't getting the epitome of professionalism in return either.
And he mailed it in halfway through this past season. When I look at McGrady I think about Chris Webber. Webber was probably the second best up and coming big man through the mid 90's behind Shaq, but you look up and he's playing on his third team. He did seem to find some stability in Sacramento and hopefully McGrady will find some here, but superstar talents playing on their third team come with question marks.
It always helps to play for a good organization. Golden State, Washington or Sacramento? Hmmm....... There's a reason players want to come here.
Barkley stuck with it in Philadelphia, even when he got clowned by the fans, and then finally moved to Pheonix. He didn't come to Houston till his career was clearly on the downside. McGrady is 25 and going to his third team. Webber was young also.
Well, I could sorta understand McGrady. The guys has been playing well, two time scoring champion, etc. He was just frustrated with the Magic Orgnization and the situation he is in. You gotta be. He wanted be a part of 1-2 punch just like shaq and kobe, and who else is better than Yao, the 2nd best center in the leagus, to be the ohter part of this punch. You can say he is demanding a trade, but also he tells the Magic that he doesnt want to paly for them after the current contract, because he's frustrated. What's wrong with that. Anybody in this league are entitiled to play for a better team if his contract expires. On the other hand, Francis is a little bit different. He didnt play well last year. Like the other poster said had he played well last year, we wouldnt even be looking at a reliable go-to guy. He and Yao are just not solution together. He's got a 5 year left in his contract with Rox, and he has no leverage to say where he wants to go. That is just a protocol in this league. Did you hear Artest or Marion say he didnt want to play for Magic if traded, that is just not professional. All and all, it is OK for a star player to warn the team that he might opt out contract and it is up to the manager to make moves, because the star player has leverage. It is not OK for a contracted player to shout out publicly not wanting to go to a team if traded there, becuase he has no leverage whatsoever.
I don't mind he shoots more than 20 times a game, after all he is the scoring champ with high FG % (career).
I also wouldn't mind seeing T MAC shoot alot. I would imagine Yao Ming will even pass it back out to him. It will be interesting to see who the opposing defenses double team. Yao or T MAC .. who would you double team ?
