Exactly, does anyone even remember or care who won the award last year or any other year?

I'm sure Yao will rise above it..

Yao has been told to stay in town so it looks like CO-ROOKIE regardless what the report says.

He has not left for china yet people so do not panic.

Second place doesn't get some sort of trophy? Shouldn't they be at the ceremony?

I think we're overrating the fact that Yao's still here. I think he'd be here a while anyway.

Amare and Yao both deserve it.
It sucks being a Rockets fan to see Yao not winning it.

One more thing isn't Eddie also 20 years old. How come Rudy always use the excuse that he is young where Amare is the same age and less experienced. Sometimes you just have to be a player.

Man I wished we had Manu Ginobli. This guy is making me like him more and more every game. What a player. The best 57th pick of all time.

    Well!
If Yao does not win, I will be sad. :(
Hopefully, next season the rocket will be a much better team than the sun.:)

Where does it say that in any part of the article? Its says the 'voters' but it doesn't describe who these 'voters' are. Oh, and its an 'east valley tribune' newspaper. From Arizona. Right. Really legit.
Hell, even people from the phnx.suns website are thinking the poll is BS because of it's Arizona based.

hey, people, do you want to know who got comercial contract from Apple, Visa, Gadorator? It's Yao! Has Amare got anything like this? None.

I guess Yao's got what he needs

Don't take too serious about ROY.

So, it's called ROA (Rookie of April)?
    Or Rookie of the Year?

Chill out man. Do you honestly believe that CNNSI , ESPN and MSNBC would all pick up and run a story about some informal poll of Phoenix Suns fans?

Read the original story from the East Valley Tribune.

And the vote was swayed due to the playoffs appearance.

    Not the Year.

Hey, if Amare does get the award, why should we be surprised?

Yao has everything stacked against from
    -people labeling him a bust
-to people hating on him and his game
-to yao proving everyone wrong, but still haters getting bailed out by stoudemire (remember earlier the race was gooden and caron, some even said it was j-wont before the season)
-to yao being unfairly judged against shaq, as if hedidn't do well, then he isn't a good player...
    -to players freezing him out...
-to players finally giving it to him, but not making cuts to the basket to make easy layups
-for the failure of coach to see this advantage
-for the failure of the ass. coach to do even worse than the first coach.
-to not being able to play more
-to be taken out of the game in the first quarter when you shoot 5-6, and not return until the third quarter

The list goes on and on...i guess everyone is entitled to use playoff berth as the tiebreaker...but thats just a cop-out imo, just like even though the two have similar stats, doesn't mean they are the same player....

Teams plan ahead for Yao, they triple team him, no team is concerned about amare, nor does he get tripled teamed....

anyone want to add to this?

LOL, I love how they say he won the 03-04 ROTY award when its obviously not this years award...really solid journalism there. They MUST be a legit source.

All good points. Many see the spectacular dunk as the reason Amare gets attention.

    Oooohhh, ahhhh.....

I agree. I also think that people tend to favor their hometown boy. Even Mobley said he'd like to see Co-ROY when Yao was clearly playing better at that time.

Besides that, I just can't get rid of the idea that Larry Smith has a lot to do with this. Yao had to change his style at the END OF THE SEASON and playing less minutes certainly affected his performance and confidence.

That being said, I'm more upset about missing playoffs than Yao's ROY award. Again, I blame Smith for that too.

Me too. I blame Larry Smith for both missing the playoff and Yao loosing the ROY.

Hopefully, he will be gone before the next season.

The biggest thing working against YM was SF and CM.

The only thing those two guys were really good at this year was hogging the ball.

Would anyone in their right mind select AS over YM, if they were building a team from scratch, and could only draft one of them.
