i dont care what you say, amare should win it, he is way more aggressive, plus he made the playoffs, which i think will factor it , just knowing their team made it over the rockets and ming

    DaDa,

What REALLY intruiges me is a Yao/Amare tandem on the same team. They'd be so perfect together.

    Well...pretty sad.

    Yao should have won.

But Amare was all right I guess.

    Great 1st playoff game.

But what about the 2nd game?

    Hmm...started out 0-9. :)

Is this the official Rookie of the Year???

IMO, this was Yao's award to lose going into later March and April. Unfortunately, he ran out of gas and put up subpar #s compared to what he was putting up in the months before.

And please do not blame Larry Smith for Yao's poor performance.

So whats the over/under on how many threads will be started about Yao losing to Amare in the ROY or that Yao was somehow robbed?

My guess is at least 20 in the next 7 days, with at least 10 of them being locked.

By comparison, Jordan had a better year than Olajuwon as a rookie, but olajuwon had the better career :)

Regardless of who wins, both have a lot of work to do - Amare significantly mroe, imo. Yao certainly needs to be more agressive, but this, almost entirely is a mental thing. He needs some more strength, but even watching him all year, he can pretty much back into the basket on almost anyone, except Shaq-fu. His lower body is solid. Amare, on the other hand, has dissapointed me more and more since his "breakout" month. He has very few "skills" - lackluster shot, poor FT shooting, not a great passer. Everything he does well, he does off his athleticism, which, was freaking amazing, so if he wins, he wins. Doesn't mean he'll get better, just as it doesn't mean Yao will get better, without the necessary work.

I don't understand. Those results we're reading everywhere, are they surveying the exact same people who actually vote for ROY? Is it possible Yao Ming will win or no?

They polled the people who actually cast a vote for the ROY.
