Dude the Mosque is a building, it cannot talk, move, or make donations. That's like saying the McDonalds over there started tap dancing.
Please read the original article before making posts like this. Thanks in advance. Here's a quote from it to help you out.
Our government gave training and money to Bin Laden in the 80s? Bin Laden later turns on us. Why don't we see articles about the decision makers that funded Bin Laden?
F*** the government for not doing their jobs and shutting down this organization earlier before Hakeem donated to it You are truly a rediculous person. And who told you they donated to Al-Qaeda? What, we are going to make connections to 9/11 now? You don't even know any freakin' facts and you are talking s*** about Hakeem and the Mosque. If you are just suspicious of all Muslims regardless, then just come out and say it! I hate ignorance and arrogance
The article told me where they donated the money to. Try reading it before making a fool of yourself. LOL. So you say the government is to blame for not finding out about these charities before they did. Riiiight, it's no fault at all of the ACTUAL GROUP that donated to the scum of the earth terrorist groups. My goodness you're delusional.
(i didnt see this posted here yet...sorry if it has already been posted) Was Hakeem in dark? Best believe it By JOHN P. LOPEZ Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle RESOURCES On the near north side of town, there's a restaurant owned in part by Hakeem Olajuwon. If you've ever been there late at night — say, after a big time out on the town — you may have seen your share of seedy characters stumbling into the place and making everyone uncomfortable. Rest assured, Olajuwon wouldn't want his name associated with them, but he probably has no idea. You don't condemn Olajuwon for owning a Denny's. You don't blame Olajuwon for the derelict at the counter making a fool of himself over a plate of Moons Over My Hammy. After all, shirt and shoes are the only stated requirements for service. Thus, even though the characters are a million times more devious and the threat a million times more diabolical, we should take Wednesday's news of Olajuwon's name being associated with charitable fronts for terrorist groups the same way. He just didn't know. You don't blame Olajuwon. You don't question his word. Sinking feeling To put it in terms Rockets fans should well remember, Believe It. Believe Olajuwon when he says he had no idea the $80,000 his Islamic Da'Wah Center on Main Street donated to charities actually was being funneled to the terrorist groups al-Qaida and Hamas. I must admit my heart sank when the headline — "Olajuwon mosque linked to terrorists" — flickered across the computer screen Wednesday morning. For a moment, I thought of Olajuwon not as the graceful and kind gentleman he is, but as a Muslim who secretly sympathized with terror groups. In my mind, I painted him into a box, in the same way maybe too many of us are too quick to characterize Muslims. I stereotyped. I linked his faith with the world's greatest villains. Maybe you did the same thing. I felt embarrassed and sorry only moments later when I read the details of the federal investigation, which is not targeting Olajuwon. I called a friend of Olajuwon, and that friend explained the pain this simple mistake is causing the former Rockets great. Keeping the faith I remembered a conversation I had with Olajuwon shortly before he left Houston for Toronto. He spoke of his faith and the differences among it, Christianity and Judaism. He quoted a fundamental Islamic belief: "We do not make a judgment or distinction. It's not our place. We believe in Allah." Faith, in Olajuwon's opinion, is the only requirement for entry to any religion. We bring this up because Olajuwon always has been keenly aware that his notoriety as a sports hero will always be linked with his faith. He always will represent Islam to those who do not know it. And he knows some never will understand. He is a legendary basketball figure and among the most visible Muslims in the world. He is prideful with his status as a symbol of his faith and proud of his strong voice that tells the world that factions of radical deviants are not representative of Islam. Still, Wednesday's news put Olajuwon in a familiar place. When Olajuwon, as a player, fasted from dawn to dusk in the heart of the NBA season, some never accepted it. Because they did not understand, some actually got mad at him. They wondered why he would dare to risk sacrificing a Rockets victory. Didn't Olajuwon know how important it was to win that Lakers or Spurs game? Wednesday, maybe some immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion again. But don't. Believe Olajuwon and hope millions of fans around the world do the same. Olajuwon was deceived, like anyone could have been. He was told the donations he made to the Islamic African Relief Agency were for needy families in Africa. "They came and approached us, and everything was legitimate," Olajuwon told the Associated Press. "I had no knowledge of their activity." The U.S. Treasury Department found that several of the group's top officials gave Osama bin Laden and other terrorist branches hundreds of thousands of dollars. "There is no way you can go back in time," Olajuwon told the AP. "After the fact, now they have the list of organizations that are banned by the government." In his retirement, Olajuwon has become a generous benefactor for charitable organizations around the globe. He has made donations to educational, religious and cultural charities all over the world. Just last month, the Islamic Da'Wah Center donated $50,000 to the Southeast Asia Tsunami Relief Fund. That generosity went unnoticed by the public, like most of Olajuwon's deeds. He is a kind and gentle man who simply didn't know.
Well, we'd better condemn Olajuwon immediately. After all, it's completely unforgivable for him to have acted on such bad intel, right texxx?
LOL! Hilarious I myself had NO IDEA whatsoever that Hakeem donated $50000 to the Tsunami relief effort. But since it is a large sum, I am wondering if he is donating it to the radical Islamic groups in Indonesia or the Tamil Tigers or someone else. We should also investigate O'Neal and McGrady for their donations, may be they will get in the wrong hands and backfire on us. You just don't make that large a contribution and not know for a fact where it is going. I mean screw the government, Hakeem has better Intel than the CIA or the FBI. right texxx?
And we of course, believe everything we read right? Especially when it's published by our completely reliable and unbiased news media, right? We wouldn't want to ask questions or think logically about things before casting sound and harsh judgements and condemnations. That would just be un-american.
You know what, wasn't Ali (the boxer dumb-a@$) a muslim? F#%@ him too for being muslim, being he probably gave money at one time or another to a Mosque that may or may not have had a terrorrist in it,.... The worst thing Hakeem did was make a mistake out of ignorance,...the guy has America to thank for all his money in the first place, and lived half his life here, I can hardly see him turning his back on Houston, let alone the whole country.
I didn't mean Ali was a dumb a@$, I meant, anyone one that didn't know he was a boxer was a dumb-a@$.
Dude, The Stripper at Treasures told me she to donate money to her cause she goes to school. I walked all around Rice University, I haven't seen a good looking blonde with a large rack and G String anywhere!
Hakeem is innocent, i dont think he would give money to the terrorism, it was an error, like in war someone die for "friendly fire" is exactly the same.
